The Olde Watermill Shopping Village is set in and around an historic Watermill.
There has been a Watermill on the site since 1086 as the Watermill is mentioned in the Domesday book and it is one of the oldest overshot Watermills in the country.
Over the last few years, it has been lovingly restored and is now home to over 20 unique and individual shops as well as the Mill House Restaurant, Tea Room & Cafe, an antique centre, Miller’s Shopping Arcade and a soft play area for the children.

Please note, the Splash Park will have 10 minute intervals where the water will stop to ensure water safety quality checks, why not take this opportunity to refresh at the Splashside Cafe.

From captivating model railways to the clang of a working Blacksmith, from vintage game consoles to historic farm machinery, and from the impressive workings of a Rack Saw to the mighty 28-liter Crossley Gas Engine - there's something for everyone.
Step into the past and experience firsthand activities like lacemaking and pottery or embark on an adventure on our Tractor to Pitstone Windmill.
With the Museum only open to the public nine times a year, our team of approximately 50 dedicated volunteers are on hand to ensure your visit is both educational and enjoyable.

🐝 Bee Friendly Family Open Day (free entry, booking advised) - Hitchin

👨👩👧👧 Activities for all the family. There are always a range of free activities for children and of course our experienced beekeepers are on hand to talk about the bees.
They will answer any questions you have, point out the queen in our observation hive and share tips on how to make your garden more bee friendly.

Take the track at the side of the last house (number 178) on Old Hale Way, Hitchin, SG5 1XT. Follow the track past the allotments, and the Discovery Centre can be found at the end.
