Discover the amazing story of the unique religious community that created its own Garden of Eden in the centre of Bedford. The museum has beautiful gardens to walk around.

๐ SOME INTERESTING HISTORY
The Panacea Society was originally called โThe Community of the Holy Ghostโ, and was made up mostly of women. Its leader was Mabel Barltrop โ the widow of an English clergyman, and mother of four childrenโ whose followers called her โOctaviaโ.

During the 1920s, followers of the Panacea Society moved to Bedford to live near Octavia. Eventually, the community was able to combine the gardens of several properties to form โthe campusโ โ a private space between the community houses, with a chapel at its centre.
From this headquarters, the Society operated a religious organisation which reached across the world. Over two thousand people became members of the Panacea Society, in Europe, North America and many parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth.
From its beginning, the Panacea Society expected the end of the world. Society members were convinced that God would soon act to bring about a new age โ a period of peace and happiness called โthe Millenniumโ.
The Panacea Society was part of a wider religious movement of groups concerned with prophecy. The Panaceans believed that God was speaking to them through Octavia, but her followers did not believe she was the only modern prophet. Rather, they accepted a lineage of seven prophetic voices since the late 1700s โ a tradition they called โthe Visitationโ.

Weโre packed full of classic arcade machines such as Pac-man, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, OutRun, Street Fighter 2, Bubble Bobble and many, many more machines from the 80's, 90's and 2000's. We have recently added Pinball Machines to our line up too!

Children aged 14 and over can visit The Pixel Bunker without an adult. Under 14s must be accompanied by at least one paying adult.

There are over 1000 spaces immediately outside the venue for as little as 50p per hour.
โฟ๏ธ We have two dedicated Blue Badge bays right outside the entrance, and many more positioned around Lloyds Court. All parking zones in Milton Keynes are Free when a Blue Badge is displayed.

Whether youโre a baby, toddler, someone with special educational needs (SEND) or sensory processing differences, or simply curious about sensory experiences, this space is all about sharing and recording history through touch, sound, light, and movement.

๐ People with Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) are missing from our collective social history, this project is exploring and evaluating ways to change that.

It's the perfect way to spend quality time with your friends & family and enjoy the great outdoors - or simply come down to practice your skills & beat your course best! Open from March to December - it's fantastic FUN for all ages!
Enjoy our beautiful lakeside setting as you work your way around our Disc & Football Golf course! You will need to throw your disc into the basket or football into the hole - the exact same as you would do on a golf course! Your round should take around 1 hour to complete. The one who takes the least goes is the winner!

Discover the amazing story of the unique religious community that created its own Garden of Eden in the centre of Bedford. The museum has beautiful gardens to walk around.

๐ SOME INTERESTING HISTORY
The Panacea Society was originally called โThe Community of the Holy Ghostโ, and was made up mostly of women. Its leader was Mabel Barltrop โ the widow of an English clergyman, and mother of four childrenโ whose followers called her โOctaviaโ.

During the 1920s, followers of the Panacea Society moved to Bedford to live near Octavia. Eventually, the community was able to combine the gardens of several properties to form โthe campusโ โ a private space between the community houses, with a chapel at its centre.
From this headquarters, the Society operated a religious organisation which reached across the world. Over two thousand people became members of the Panacea Society, in Europe, North America and many parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth.
From its beginning, the Panacea Society expected the end of the world. Society members were convinced that God would soon act to bring about a new age โ a period of peace and happiness called โthe Millenniumโ.
The Panacea Society was part of a wider religious movement of groups concerned with prophecy. The Panaceans believed that God was speaking to them through Octavia, but her followers did not believe she was the only modern prophet. Rather, they accepted a lineage of seven prophetic voices since the late 1700s โ a tradition they called โthe Visitationโ.

(Whatsup Bedfordshire advice)
The parking is on gravel stones so this maybe hard to navigate a wheelchair. Although it does mention on the website that you can park infront of the Farm Shop which is tarmac ideal for wheelchair users. The farm shop, Steak House & Tea room are accessible. On a winter day you may find the zoo area paths are muddy, with some gravel paths and grass, so it maybe hard to push a wheelchair in places. There is a wooden slat ramp to the Tropical house.
