This inspiring walk invites individuals and families to take time to reflect on how dementia has touched their lives and the lives of others in their community. It's a chance to walk, talk, and show solidarity while raising awareness about the challenges faced by those living with dementia.
The Luton Dementia Awareness Walk is not a challenge or a race, it is a gentle stroll bringing people affected by Dementia together to walk, talk and share experiences.
βΏοΈ WHEELCHAIR USERS & STROLLERS
The grassed route is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers but those who wish to enjoy taking part in the day can use the many hard standing paths on the route.
πΆ DOGS
We welcome well-behaved doggies and responsible owners. Owners should provide water for their dogs and ensure that they clear up after them.

Our next Nearly New Sale is on Saturday 11th October 2025, 12:30 - 2pm at King's House, MK42 9AZ (12pm entry for NCT members, advance ticket holders from 12:15).
At our NCT Nearly New Sales you will find a wide range of great quality second-hand baby, children, and maternity items, ranging from clothes and shoes to equipment, to toys and games.
βΉοΈ If you haven't been to one of our sales before, how does it work?
Items from all sellers will be sorted into categories, giving a department store-style shopping experience, which is unique to the NCT. Buyers will find items conveniently organised by type or size, and there will be tills where they can pay for their shopping all together.
π Buyers
Entry is Β£2.00 per adult on the door. The venue is large and easily wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Please bring your own bags to put your purchases in after paying. We will provide shopping bags to be used around the sale. We do not permit shopping trolley bags in our sale, unless it forms part of a walking/sitting aid. Shopping trolley bags brought to sale will be tagged and waiting for you at checkout.
Sellers
Seller spots always sell fast and usually sell out well ahead of the sale! New seller registration opens on Monday 25th August. Our seller fee is Β£8 per 100 items, and all sales are subject to a charitable commission (30%, which is reduced for those helping on the day). Our fees and commission go to supporting NCT activities and services in the local area.
How it works - For sellers, you price and label your items at home and then drop them off at the start of the day. Any unsold items are just collected after the sale. There's no need to worry about displaying or haggling, and no need to stay all day - our team of volunteers will do the rest. All our registered on-the-day helpers and organising team members will benefit from reduced seller commission, as well as early bird shopping at the sale, so if you'd like to get involved please sign up using our registration form or email us at nns.northbeds@nct.org.uk.
Helpers
The event is run by a large team of on-the-day helpers, as well as a small committee. Helping on the day gives you the benefit of early access shopping as well as priority seller booking and reduced commission on any items you're selling - plus it's a great way to meet other local parents! Mental Elf is a unique event which focuses on bringing people together, not only to fundraise, but to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing. It promotes the benefits of physical activity, connecting with people and doing something to help others. Itβs an inclusive and non-competitive event, accessible and open to all ages and abilities, and of course, Christmas fancy dress is very much encouraged!
β¨οΈ EVENT DETAILS
The fundraising event will take place at the beautiful venue of The Forest Centre, in Marston Moretaine to help raise vital funds for Mind BLMK. All proceeds will help fund our key mental health and wellbeing services in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. Each entrant will receive a victory medal!
β°οΈ IS IT A TIMED EVENT ?
No, this is an inclusive community run and won't be timed. You can walk, skip, run or jog, the emphasis is on moving your body and getting out in nature, whilst raising funds for Mind BLMK. Participants are welcome to time their own run, however this won't be tracked by us.
πΆ DOG INFORMATION
Well behaved four legged friends are welcome on short handheld non-extendable leads. Please be mindful of other runners and users of the forest. Only one dog per participant and please don't run with a pushchair and a dog at the same time. Please clean up any poo!
βΏοΈ ACCESSIBILITY
The route is on a main cycle and walking route, some areas may be uneven in places as it is a trail. The surface is flat and gravel. There is step free access throughout the building, with automatic doors into Reception and a baby changing facility/ disabled toilet, with a lift to upstairs.
π ΏοΈ PARKING INFORMATION
Parking will be available on a first come first served basis. There is limited parking so we recommend car sharing where possible. The forest centre has kindly agreed to free parking for participants, you must register your number plate at reception to avoid charges.
