🎩 Step into a scene from a storybook this Christmas as Ware proudly presents its long-established Dickensian Evening this December 2025.
✨️ WHAT TO EXPECT
For one magical night, our historic town transforms into a festive wonderland, where shops welcome you late into the evening and the streets are lined with stalls brimming with handcrafted gifts and delicious seasonal treats.
Streets will be shut from 6pm to 10pm with festivities starting from 6.30pm. Local shops will stay open late for you to peruse and there will be stalls throughout the town for local traders and community groups as well as funfair rides in Amwell End.
🎶 ENTERTAINMENT
This year, we’re turning up the festive cheer with a spectacular increase in entertainment! Alongside the now-traditional, rhythm-filled procession of the Samba Band, you’ll be captivated by High Street performances from dazzling Majorettes and a harmonious choir. And the magic continues indoors, with a programme of music and dramatic performances set within the beautiful and historic backdrops of St. Mary’s Church, Leaside Church, and the Drill Hall.

We will also have performances in Tudor Square, concluding with the staple of Dickensian Evening Carols performed by Ware Brass.

✨️ Prepare Reindeer Food: In the Magic Stables, Drifter is preparing Rudolph and his friends’ favourite food. Here the children can fill their own bag of special magic food to take home.
✨️ Make a wish: Now for that very special moment when you make a wish on Santa’s Wishing Stars – ssshhh don’t tell anyone!!
✨️ Meet Santa & Mrs Claus: If that’s not enough fun, Mrs Claus will invite you into their cozy sitting room to meet Santa himself for a festive story, a present for each child and individual time with him and the opportunity to take that personal photograph of all the family.
✨️ Take a ride: Outside Rudolph is waiting to say ‘Merry Christmas’ and see you all, and each child can enjoy a go on Santa’s fairground train ride after which all the family can enjoy some time in our glittering, illuminated Wonderland and climb aboard The Santa Express for more fun and photos.

After the tree is lit, grab a mulled wine or a beer and enjoy the exceptional acoustic talent of Amber Lilly. One of the most exciting new additions to the local scene, not to be missed.

🚂 Take a 25-minute steam-train ride over a historic narrow-gauge railway that’s more than 100 years old, and run by enthusiastic volunteers. 🎅 It’s the most wonderful time of the year and The Santa Express is heading to The North Pole Train Station at the Olde Watermill Winter Wonderland with Santa, Mrs Claus, Elves and Rudolph on board, ready to see you all for a 50 minute visit full of magical Christmas fun.

✨️ Gingerbread Decorating: Step into the North Pole Bakery where Nutmeg the Baker and Jelly Tots the Elf will help all the children decorate a delicious christmassy gingerbread biscuit, there will also be an extra little surprise too. Next we’re off to meet more of Santa’s Elves.
✨️ Prepare Reindeer Food: In the Magic Stables, Drifter is preparing Rudolph and his friends’ favourite food. Here the children can fill their own bag of special magic food to take home.
✨️ Make a wish: Now for that very special moment when you make a wish on Santa’s Wishing Stars – ssshhh don’t tell anyone!!
✨️ Meet Santa & Mrs Claus: If that’s not enough fun, Mrs Claus will invite you into their cozy sitting room to meet Santa himself for a festive story, a present for each child and individual time with him and the opportunity to take that personal photograph of all the family.
✨️ Take a ride: Outside Rudolph is waiting to say ‘Merry Christmas’ and see you all, and each child can enjoy a go on Santa’s fairground train ride after which all the family can enjoy some time in our glittering, illuminated Wonderland and climb aboard The Santa Express for more fun and photos.

NEW this year, we have Santa’s Magic Postbox outside in the Winter Wonderland, so don’t forget to remind the children to bring their letters and post them to make sure they reach the North Pole by Christmas Eve.

Start your journey with our family-friendly pantomime, Aladdin, in our festive Visitor Centre. Enjoy your performance and then make your way to the Booking Hall to board the steam train. After the train ride, your adventure continues to the museum where you will be magically transported to Santa’s workshop to meet Mrs Claus and the elves, and your child can exchange their golden ticket for a gift of their choice.

If you have less than 6 people you can still book a private compartment, but the price will be for 6 people.)

One of the best, if not THE best covers bands in the 3 counties area. Allergy are a barnstorming, ball-busting, 3-piece act that will leave jaws on the floor.

We’ve only gone and secured ONE OF THE BIGGEST LOCAL TRIBUTE ACTS that a Christmas fayre could desire! The one-and-only Queenergy are bringing the best of Freddie, Brian, Roger and John to Baldock town and just in time for the Xmas Tree lights countdown!

After the tree is lit, grab a mulled wine or a beer and enjoy the exceptional acoustic talent of Amber Lilly. One of the most exciting new additions to the local scene, not to be missed.

We finish the proceedings with Karaoke in the beer tent, hosted by the Balstock Dictator himself. Try your hand at some Elton, meat your match on some Meatloaf, why not wing it with Wham! Let’s keep the party going until Christmas Time!!!
