✨️ The free Bedford Lights Switch-On event returns to Harpur Square in Bedford town centre on Saturday 21 November 2026 starting at midday.
🎄 LIGHT SWITCH ON: 5PM
The Christmas lights will be turned on at 5pm by the Mayor of Bedford Borough, Tom Wootton.

The much-loved procession will begin at 3pm; from Lydekker Park it will travel along the High Street up to Vaughan Road. The Pipes and Drums will lead the parade, closely followed by Santa and his elves. Joining them are entertainers, musicians, community groups and the cast of this year’s Harpenden Panto, Rapunzel. This year’s theme, ‘Harpenden Sparkles at Christmas’ means we can look forward to a procession filled with seasonal sparkle, festive creativity and plenty of Christmas magic!

Free parking for the event will be available at the Station car park starting at 12 noon; because of expected high attendance the Town Council encourages people to walk to the event where possible.

🌲 Leighton Buzzard will welcome the festive season in style with the Christmas Light Switch On, taking place from 4pm to 8pm on Friday 27 November 2026.

The stage programme will showcase fantastic local talent, with performances from Infinite All Stars Cheerleading, Razzamataz, Leighton Buzzard Children’s Theatre and The V.I.Peas, building excitement ahead of the countdown.

You can explore the trail at your own pace, enjoying the installations as quickly or slowly as you like. On average, the trail will take approximately 60-75 minutes.

This outdoor event features light installations placed at various points around our Grade II* listed gardens. We have taken every step to make as many areas as possible accessible to visitors. However, due to the scale and nature of the gardens and grounds, we cannot always guarantee full accessibility.
Please be aware the trail includes bright flashing lights, busy crowds, music & pyrotechnics.
