🥔 Flitton Potato Race 2026
Time: 10:00 - 16:00
Run, walk or stagger your way through a mile carrying a sack of spuds, all while raising money for charities, local projects and good causes. With roots going back over 100 years, this much-loved community event is a brilliant day out for all ages.
🥔 ABOUT THE RACE
There are race categories for all ages, with competitors carrying 20kg, 10kg, 5kg or 2kg depending on the category. You can take on the full mile solo or gather your team and enter as a relay of four. There are also fun Spud & Spoon races for children aged 9 and under, making this a proper family-friendly event with plenty of laughs along the way.
💚 A BEDFORDSHIRE TRADITION
The Flitton Potato Race has a fascinating history, believed to date back to the old farming days when labourers raced with heavy sacks of potatoes for the chance to keep them. Over the years the race has been revived, reimagined and kept alive by the local community, with today’s event finishing at The White Hart pub and welcoming everyone from serious runners to fancy dress fun-lovers.
