Since then, the dynamic dance group has gone on to sell out multiple tours across the UK and Ireland, perform to the masses with countless television and live shows, receive the award for Virgin Media’s ‘Must see Moment of 2020’ at the British Academy Television Awards, and launch dance space Diversity Studio in 2023 based in its native Essex.

All children, young people and their families are welcome to join the fun in the Imagination Station at any time. However, we will have a SEND friendly session every morning between 10:15am – 10:45am as we understand that loud and busy spaces can be overwhelming for some children with additional needs. During these sessions we’ll be keeping the lights up, the music low and limiting numbers to ensure a calm, gentle experience.

A fun & interactive invitation to explore the secret world beneath our feet. As well as being brilliantly beautiful, delightfully disgusting and wonderfully weird, the show is an inspirational call to action to appreciate the smaller creatures in our world. 🎼 Come and Sing Karl Jenkins Requiem - Aspley Guise Village Hall

ℹ️ ABOUT
Jenkins has set the usual Latin movements of the requiem mass, but, in keeping with his usual trait of drawing from other cultures, he has also set five Japanese haiku ’death’ poems. Such poems are usually to do with nature, have a single idea, and consist of seventeen syllables divided 5-7-5 over three lines. These describe the Japanese view of nature’s water cycle (precipitation) being synonymous with life.
The Western and Eastern texts are combined in two of the haiku movements, Having Seen the Moon and Farewell, which incorporate the Benedictus and the Agnus Dei respectively.
In the full production, both are intoned by male voices in a monastic style as counterpoint to the Japanese text sung by females. The instrumentation of these haiku settings includes the ancient Japanese wind instrument, the shakuhachi. Elsewhere, as usual, Jenkins has used someethnic drums (e.g. Arabic darabuca, Japanese daiko, frame drums) and even hip-hop rhythm in the Dies Irae.

🎼 Rheinberger Mass in E flat and Gjeilo Sunrise Mass - St Mary’s Parish Church, Woburn

Josef Rheinberger: Mass in E flat
Josef Rheinberger, a much under-rated composer, is today probably best known for his set of 20 organ sonatas. But he also wrote a large number of choral works of which his extraordinary Mass in E flat for unaccompanied double choir is generally considered to be his finest. Its antiphonal opening harks back to the works of Gabrieli and Monteverdi composed for spatially separated choirs, with the gloriously rich eight-part harmonies of later movements showing the influence of composers such as Bach and Mendelssohn. The overall result is a work which showcases Rheinberger’s own inventive powers of composition and has been described as “the most beautiful pure vocal mass of the nineteenth century.”
✨️ Gjeilo: Sunrise Mass
Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo (b. 1978) created this 30-minute work in four sections: The Spheres (Kyrie), Sunrise (Gloria), The City (Credo), and Identity & The Ground (Sanctus, Benedictus & Agnus Dei). Gjeilo himself said: “The reason I used English titles, seemingly unrelated to the (mostly) Latin texts, for the movements in this setting of the Mass has mainly to do with the initial idea behind Sunrise Mass. I wanted the musical development of the work to evolve from the most transparent and spacey, to something completely earthy and grounded; from nebulous and pristine to more emotional and dramatic, and eventually warm and solid – as a metaphor for human development from child to adult, or as a spiritual journey.
