Each gathering will start with a mindfulness activity to connect you to the space we'll be using, there will be a craft activity, community lunch, refreshments, time to play and a closing circle to send you on your way.

Due to last year’s popularity of dog-friendly sessions, dogs will be once again welcome to join their humans on the trail every Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Pups and humans alike will have the opportunity to visit the extended festive Food Village, which promises to deliver a bigger and cosier experience than last year, with even more seasonal favourites, warming drinks, and sweet treats from local traders.

✨️ WHAT TO EXPECT
For one magical night, our historic town transforms into a festive wonderland, where shops welcome you late into the evening and the streets are lined with stalls brimming with handcrafted gifts and delicious seasonal treats.
Streets will be shut from 6pm to 10pm with festivities starting from 6.30pm. Local shops will stay open late for you to peruse and there will be stalls throughout the town for local traders and community groups as well as funfair rides in Amwell End.
🎶 ENTERTAINMENT
This year, we’re turning up the festive cheer with a spectacular increase in entertainment! Alongside the now-traditional, rhythm-filled procession of the Samba Band, you’ll be captivated by High Street performances from dazzling Majorettes and a harmonious choir. And the magic continues indoors, with a programme of music and dramatic performances set within the beautiful and historic backdrops of St. Mary’s Church, Leaside Church, and the Drill Hall.

We meet for a 9am start at the National Trust car park close to Ivinghoe Beacon and the route includes Beacon Hill, part of the Ridgeway, the Grand Union Canal, Icknield Way, Ashridge Forest, Moneybury Hill and Pitstone Common.

The elevation is quite low, so although 15 miles in total it should take about 6.5hrs with breaks, so finishing around 3.30pm. A stunning hike any time of the year, with wonderful scenery and fully guided throughout. (Rating 3).

Start your journey with our family-friendly pantomime, Aladdin, in our festive Visitor Centre. Enjoy your performance and then make your way to the Booking Hall to board the steam train. You will be shown to your compartment and visited by Father Christmas, where each child will be given a special golden ticket.

When booking GOLD tickets, you are booking a private First-Class compartment, for up to six people. These are sold as a whole compartment price. These are our most popular seats! Our GOLD ticket holders enjoy the larger and plusher seats of their First-Class compartment, plus reserved seating on the 2 front rows at the pantomime. Maximum booking is for 6 people (babies under 12 months can be added on top as they do not need a seat). If you have less than 6 people you can still book a private compartment, but the price will be for 6 people.)

Children of all ages are welcome. Well behaved dogs are welcome on leads.

The trail takes place between Saturday 6th December 2025 and Sunday 4th January 2026, from 10:30am to 4pm, with last entry at 3:30pm.
(We are closed on the 24th and 25th December 2025).

The visitor centre, courtyard and trail is step free and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Please note that the majority of the trail is on grass.

🅿️ PARKING
Parking at Dunstable Downs costs £3.50 for a day for non-National Trust members and is free for National Trust members. Blue badge holders can also park for free. The parking is paid via a pay and display machine, and members can scan their membership card for free parking. (Parking charges can change at anytime)
