Fishing is more than just a hobby. It helps men step away from their busy lives and relax. The slow, steady process of fishing—casting a line, waiting, and focusing on the water—can be very calming. It helps lower stress and gives men time to clear their minds.
Spending time outdoors is also important for mental health. Being in nature can improve mood, reduce anxiety, and boost overall well-being. Fishing provides a chance to breathe fresh air, enjoy quiet moments, and feel a sense of achievement.
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
A fully qualified facilitator and level 2 angling coach with over 30 years of angling experience. They will also provide fishing tackle, bait, etc. Please note that a rod licence to fish will be provided.

At our NCT Nearly New Sales you will find a wide range of great quality second-hand baby, children, and maternity items, ranging from clothes and shoes to equipment, to toys and games.

Items from all sellers will be sorted into categories, giving a department store-style shopping experience, which is unique to the NCT. Buyers will find items conveniently organised by type or size, and there will be tills where they can pay for their shopping all together.

Entry is £2.00 per adult on the door. The venue is large and easily wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Please bring your own bags to put your purchases in after paying. We will provide shopping bags to be used around the sale. We do not permit shopping trolley bags in our sale, unless it forms part of a walking/sitting aid. Shopping trolley bags brought to sale will be tagged and waiting for you at checkout.

Seller spots always sell fast and usually sell out well ahead of the sale! New seller registration opens on Monday 25th August. Our seller fee is £8 per 100 items, and all sales are subject to a charitable commission (30%, which is reduced for those helping on the day). Our fees and commission go to supporting NCT activities and services in the local area.
How it works - For sellers, you price and label your items at home and then drop them off at the start of the day. Any unsold items are just collected after the sale. There's no need to worry about displaying or haggling, and no need to stay all day - our team of volunteers will do the rest. All our registered on-the-day helpers and organising team members will benefit from reduced seller commission, as well as early bird shopping at the sale, so if you'd like to get involved please sign up using our registration form or email us at nns.northbeds@nct.org.uk.

🏊♂️ Box End Park, Kempston welcomes all Open Water swimmers who are looking for a venue to carry out swim training. Our Open Water Swimming sessions are aimed at confident swimmers, looking to practice distance swimming in an open water environment.

Our 5K grass running trail is open for people training before or after a booked swim, but not outside of these times.

After your swim we recommend re-acclimatising your body temperature outside, before heading inside to use the changing rooms or showers. There are outside changing cubicles available too.

Note that we are unable to offer refunds on booked sessions however, if you notify us more than 7 working days before your booking, we can help look at re-scheduling your session or providing a credit.
In the event of extreme weather, high winds or flooding, Box End Park may need to cancel a session. In the event of this, we will help you re-schedule your booking or provide a return credit.

In 1312, a Royal Charter was granted to Shefford – the right to hold an annual fair. This was held at Michaelmas and although at least two more fairs were established in the town at later dates, only this one, held as a street fair on the 11th October each year, still remains today.
🛍 WHAT ELSE IS ON THIS DAY
The Shefford Community Market (formerly Shefford Farmers’ Market) is on the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9am to 1pm, with up to 33 stalls running between Morrisons and the High Street, offering a diverse mix of food, crafts, sundries and handmade goods. We try not to have direct duplicates, giving all stallholders the best chance to sell their wares.
Supporting charities and non-profits is important to us, and we’re happy to offer a limited number of free spaces to a variety of charities over the course of the year. To apply for a stall, please go to https://www.riverdreamevents.co.uk/stallholder-enquiries/

Support your local producers. Apples and other fruity themed produce. School ‘scarecrow’ judging and Morris dancing. The Farmers' Market will take place in the Old Market Site, Brook Street.
💃 APPLE CART PROCESSION: 10:30AM
Follow Tring’s Own Apple Man and Apple Woman; dancing, parade of scarecrows, the Apple Cart, Maypole, Apple Wagon. The procession leaves the Kings Arms at 10.30 am to the Old Market Site, Brook Street.

For one night only on 31st October, two special Zombie Trains will depart the railway station at 5.10pm and 5.30pm.
