Start your journey with our family-friendly pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, in our festive Visitor Centre. Enjoy your performance and then make your way to the Booking Hall to board the steam train.

โจ๏ธ For those who have never experienced it before, Stonyโs Christmas Lights Switch-On, together with a magical family day of Christmas fun, is one of the best around! Every Christmas, Stony Stratford glitters and shines with enchanting, twinkling lights, and excitement builds as the festive season is officially switched on at 5pm following a full day of activities for the whole familyโฆ
๐ FUNFAIR:
Funfair rides are a regular feature of Stony Lightโs Fun Day both on the High Street and in the Market Square.
๐ STALLS:
We must not forget all the stalls that will be selling their festive wares on the High Street.
๐ STONY STRATFORD STORY STROLL: STARTING 10:30am
Why not join Red Phoenix as she weaves her stories on a walk around the town starting at 10.30am.
๐ SANTAโS GROTTO:
We are hoping that Santa will be making a stop off in Stony Stratford as part of his busy schedule to delight the children this year.
๐ MORRIS DANCING: 10:30am - 3.30pm
Morris dancers are often seen around Stony Stratford but if you have missed this experience or want to see them again, you will be treated to a range of different styles and colourful costumes from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
๐ถ WATLING FEST: 11:30am - 4.20pm
Each year we have a wealth of local musical talent performing on the stage in the Market Square normally from about 11.30am to 4.20pm. There is always a good mix of musical genres and this year is no exception.
๐ก LANTERN PROCESSION: 4:15PM
Lantern procession leaves York House Centre at 4:15
London Road, High Street, Church Street
then Market Square.
๐ LIGHT SWITCH ON: 5pm

On Saturday, the Leighton Fun Runners Santa Dash took place from Parsonโs Close Recreation Ground with hundreds of Santaโs dashing through the streets of Leighton-Linslade. Our festive markets continued with the Charter Market taking place alongside the Handmade and Craft Market who were joined by Sparky The Robot and local performing groups brining some festive cheer to the High Street.

Full steam ahead to the Junction Shed to meet Mr P the Station Master. He has just received a delivery of Christmassy letters from Rudolph, one for every child, and your magical reindeer food ready for Christmas Eve. Mr P the Station Master will also help you make your own special wish upon a star.
๐CHRISTMAS RIDE
Conductor, the Elf will then lead the way and give each a child a ticket for Santaโs special Christmas ride.
๐ MEET SANTA
At the end of the Station you will find Santa and Mrs Claus in their cosy sitting room, where Santa will have a story for you and a present for each child, enjoy your own special time with him and there will be the opportunity for you to take that memorable photograph.

The Light Trail has been designed to be as accessible as possible, a lot of the route is on hard standing paths and is approximately one mile in length. There is however uneven ground and no hard standing in the woodland areas. If it rains, it may get muddy, and access may be difficult in this area. Four-wheel drive buggies are advisable. If you have access requirements and the day you have purchased for has adverse weather, then please contact us and we will amend your booking for a future date.
The food village will be accessible as well as wheelchair user friendly. Disabled parking is free and toilet facilities are available.

Make some magical memories this Christmas as one of Santa's elves greets you as you arrive and then you will walk through different themes, taking in the sights and sounds on the way to the grotto to be greeted by the man himself where children will be able to chat with Santa and receive a present.
๐ฆMAKE SOME REINDEER FOOD
Go past Santaโs Workshop and mailroom on the way where presents get wrapped and letters to Santa are sorted through! Stop off at the Reindeer Food Bar to prepare and bag up some reindeer food to take home ready to leave out on Christmas Eve!

A photograph will be taken with Santa and will be available to purchase as an additional extra, either as a print in a presentation folder or a gift item such as a bauble or snow block (subject to availability). ๐ On Saturday 30th November 2024, BedfordBID collaborates with Bedford Borough Council to bring you Bedford Town Centre Christmas Lights Switch On. Unfortunately the scheduled date of 23rd December 2024 had to change to 30th December 2024 due to weather disruption.

WHAT FUN TO EXPECT?
Make an afternoon of it and enjoy the family festivities on offer from 10am.
๐ STALLS - Christmas themed arts and crafts stalls will be on untill 7pm!
โณ๏ธ CHRISTMAS CRAZY GOLF - takes place on inside the Harpur Sweet from 12pm - 7pm, with fun and laughs for all.
๐ธ FREE PHOTO BOOTH - Head to the Christmas Photo Booth in Harpur Square between 12pm & 7pm outside boots where you can have a FREE photo of your group or family.
๐ SANTA - Remember to keep a look out for Santa! The jolly man himself will make an appearance in the Harpur Centre!

And from 12pm the Love Bedford Stage in Harpur Square will also come alive, with a wonderful selection of live performances from local bands, singers, school choirs and dancers performing all day.
The wonderful songstress Laura Menozzi takes to the stage with a collection of Christmas favourites to get us all in the festive mood.

At 5pm itโs time for Mayor Tom Wootton to press the button and illuminate Bedford. Laura then leads us in a sing-along to some favourite Christmas tunes. And to keep the party going, local radio presenter Steven Gordon-Wilson takes over to spin some classic Christmas tunes to get you โrockinโ around the Christmas treeโ untill 6:30pm.

Refreshments will be available on Harpur Square, and there will be offers and discounts for you to enjoy at our town centre establishments.
