🏊‍♂️ Box End Park, Kempston welcomes all Open Water swimmers who are looking for a venue to carry out swim training. Our Open Water Swimming sessions are aimed at confident swimmers, looking to practice distance swimming in an open water environment.

Please note that our swim sessions are not suitable for people looking for a beach area to relax, or for the kids to have a splash around!

ℹ️ WHAT TO KNOW
▪️You must wear a brightly coloured swim cap & we strongly advise wearing a tow float on your person at all times whilst swimming. ▪️Under 16's must wear a bright coloured tow float at all times. You can also hire a tow float from us on the day in Reception for £2.50 per swim or bring your own along with you instead!
▪️You must be capable of swimming 750m without stopping.

🥽 WETSUITS
Wetsuits are optional but recommended for warmth & protection. Rent one of our full length wetsuits for £5 extra! Goggles are also recommended (you will need to bring your own). 

🏃‍♂️ 5K GRASS RUNNING TRAIL
Our 5K grass running trail is open for people training before or after a booked swim, but not outside of these times.

After your swim we recommend re-acclimatising your body temperature outside, before heading inside to use the changing rooms or showers. There are outside changing cubicles available too.

Note that we are unable to offer refunds on booked sessions however, if you notify us more than 7 working days before your booking, we can help look at re-scheduling your session or providing a credit.

In the event of extreme weather, high winds or flooding, Box End Park may need to cancel a session. In the event of this, we will help you re-schedule your booking or provide a return credit.

The Olde Watermill Shopping Village is set in and around an historic Watermill.
There has been a Watermill on the site since 1086 as the Watermill is mentioned in the Domesday book and it is one of the oldest overshot Watermills in the country.
Over the last few years, it has been lovingly restored and is now home to over 20 unique and individual shops as well as the Mill House Restaurant, Tea Room & Cafe, an antique centre, Miller’s Shopping Arcade and a soft play area for the children.

🚂 Haynes Summerfield Miniature Railway 2025


Time: 10:30 - 15:30

🚂 The Summerfield Line will take you between Haynes End Station and Hammer Hill Station.

TIMES
Trains depart Haynes End between 10:30 and 15:30 (approx.), we close at 16:00.
Steam engines will also be in action as often as we are able.

ℹ️ ABOUT
At Hammer Hill you will have the option of taking a ride on two more of our railways - The Springfield Line from platform 2 and The Winterfield Line from platform 3 - tickets for both are sold at Hammer Hill. 

🥪 PICNIC AREA
The picnic area at Hammer Hill will also be open for you to use, from where you will be able to watch the Garden Line in operation.

☕️ REFRESHMENTS
At Haynes End the Station Buffet will be open for refreshments and picnic tables are available for your use on the grass outside.
