The festival’s location is steeped in history. Twinwood Airfield was once a significant RAF base during World War II and is famed as the last place Glenn Miller was seen before his disappearance in 1944. 👑 The Most Perilous Comedie of Elizabeth - Elstow Abbey
Sunday 24 August 2025
Time: 19:00
👑 Elizabethan theatre is flourishing. But will a brand-new Tudor musical romp, in which Good Queen Bess takes to the stage herself, be the making of this heroine or spell the beginning of her downfall?
🕖 TIMES:
▪️6pm - Gates Open
▪️7pm - Show Starts
(The performance will last approximately 100 minutes + a 20 minute interval).
🎭 The stage is set for regicidal rivalries, devious dramatics, and plotting playwrights. Beset by misunderstandings and a script that…let’s just say…needs some work, this production promises to be largely historical, always hysterical.
As the old saying goes…thy show must go-eth on!
🥪 WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
This performance is an outdoor performance. We recommend that you bring blankets/chairs/cushions etc. to sit on. Come prepared for the weather with warm coats and waterproofs etc, as the performance will continue come rain come shine! We ask that you don’t bring umbrellas as these can obscure the view for other people in the audience.
Picnics are welcome at this performance.
🎟 BOOKING
We recommend booking tickets for this performance online in advance via thr event link. Standard ticket £20, with reductions for under-18s and families.

🍓 FRUIT PICKING
Gravely fruit farm will be open for strawberry picking on Sunday 24th August 2025.
👨👩👧👦 WUB BLOG
My family set off for a wonderful day to this great farm in the Hitchin area. It is FREE entry, you can pick your own strawberries at a cost (depending on availability) with other activities for children and the family to enjoy. Set in the beautiful surrounding countryside. A great family fun, memorable day out for all and not far from Bedfordshire! Plus they have a car boot sale on Saturday's.
❓DO I NEED TO BOOK?
No you don't need to book which is the great thing, you can enjoy a last minute fun day out, but I'd recommend checking there facebook page incase of any updates on times and days ect.
🐕 DOGS
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but you have to keep them on leads and out of the polytunnels.
🏖 PLAY AREA
The play area and sand pit is FREE to use. Fantastic!
They have a large children’s adventure play area including a zip wire and a haystack. The play area is overlooked from the cafe so you can keep an eye on your little or not so little ones!
