🎸 Howlin Matt Cigar Box Social Workshop - Place Theatre Bedford
Time: 12:00
👋 MEET FRIENDS
However, this is more than just a workshop – come and meet like-minded people and leave with a new group of friends!
ℹ️ ABOUT HOWLIN MAT
The Cigar Box Social is the brain child of Blues guitar maestro Howlin’ Mat. Howlin’ Mat is a nomadic solo blues artist who has played 1000’s of gigs from The Sahara to the North Pole. His playing has received credits from legendary artists such as John Paul Jones [Led Zeppelin] and Mud Morganfield [son of Muddy Waters]. He was introduced to the Cigar Box Guitar very early on in his playing career and fell in love instantly. As with every devotee of the CBG, it wasn’t long before he started to make his own cigar box guitars. Coming from a teaching background, this naturally led to the occasional workshop. In 2023, the Cigar Box Social was born with the express intention of introducing these amazing instruments to the wider population. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength.
COMMENTS FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE ATTENDED THE COURSE
“We absolutely loved it thank you. Best event I’ve ever attended. Howlin’ Mat is a really cool interesting guy too.”
⭐️“I loved it and I love my guitar. Mat, you’re a legend.” “Great session. Thanks for organizing it and of course thanks to Howlin’ Mat for a most entertaining and productive afternoon – brilliant!!”
⭐️“It was great. Really great. I really enjoyed it as did my friend. It was a brilliant afternoon. You are very engaging and the thing that really makes it is you, your tales, your personality and honest delivery.”

💖 Women for women Support Group - Bedford
Time: 15:00 - 16:30
🫶 WOMEN COMING TOGETHER
We all need a community around us, people we can share moments and experiences with, among whom we find support and understanding. Starting mid-September this will be a regular weekly meet-up (outdoors or indoors - if the right place is found), fostering a safe environment and deeper connections that develop over time.
WHAT IS THIS GROUP INTENDED FOR?
Women for Women is intended as a space where everyone can find their people, their tribe and have that sense of belonging that is more difficult to achieve in the modern world, outside of your closest family circle (if that is the case). We are all different, bringing our uniqueness to the people around us and the community. Let's celebrate and cherish that, learn from each other and be for one another in this space.
🗺 I WOULD LOVE TO BE APART OF THIS - WHERE DO WE MEET?
We meet at Bedford Band Stand in the park - click the address location link above and it will show you.
