ABOUT MEGSON - Folk/blues/world music
MEGSON are known for combining an infectious mix of heavenly vocals, lush harmonies and driving rhythmic guitars. They have been described as "the most original duo on the British folk scene" by THE GUARDIAN. On the night we will have support from Delta Sonic, a local band consisting of adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Not only will this be a night of great music but ticket holders will have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a family ticket to @folkbytheoak festival 2025, in Hertfordshire. Raffle tickets can be purchased with your entry ticket or at the door on the night.
WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR?
This gig will be open to the public as well as our Gig Buddies and friends! If you do have a Gig Buddy you can add a free volunteer ticket when purchasing. There are also carer tickets available for those that might like to attend with support. Please do not add these tickets to your order if you do not require them.

🎸 Have you ever wanted to make and own your own guitar? Now is your chance! This workshop introduces you to the Cigar Box Cigar and guides you through making your very own.

However, this is more than just a workshop – come and meet like-minded people and leave with a new group of friends!
ℹ️ ABOUT HOWLIN MAT
The Cigar Box Social is the brain child of Blues guitar maestro Howlin’ Mat. Howlin’ Mat is a nomadic solo blues artist who has played 1000’s of gigs from The Sahara to the North Pole. His playing has received credits from legendary artists such as John Paul Jones [Led Zeppelin] and Mud Morganfield [son of Muddy Waters]. He was introduced to the Cigar Box Guitar very early on in his playing career and fell in love instantly. As with every devotee of the CBG, it wasn’t long before he started to make his own cigar box guitars. Coming from a teaching background, this naturally led to the occasional workshop. In 2023, the Cigar Box Social was born with the express intention of introducing these amazing instruments to the wider population. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength.
