There is however uneven ground and no hard standing in the woodland areas. If it rains, it may get muddy, and access may be difficult in this area. Four-wheel drive buggies are advisable. If you have access requirements and the day you have purchased for has adverse weather, then please contact us and we will amend your booking for a future date.
The food village will be accessible as well as wheelchair user friendly. Disabled parking is free and toilet facilities are available.

First stop is a visit to Buffer and Stoker in their Engine Shed. These clever Elves will help you design your own Santa Express decoration to take home with you whilst entertaining you with jokes and fun.
๐ฆMAGICAL REINDEER FOOD
Full steam ahead to the Junction Shed to meet Mr P the Station Master. He has just received a delivery of Christmassy letters from Rudolph, one for every child, and your magical reindeer food ready for Christmas Eve. Mr P the Station Master will also help you make your own special wish upon a star.
๐CHRISTMAS RIDE
Conductor, the Elf will then lead the way and give each a child a ticket for Santaโs special Christmas ride.
๐ MEET SANTA
At the end of the Station you will find Santa and Mrs Claus in their cosy sitting room, where Santa will have a story for you and a present for each child, enjoy your own special time with him and there will be the opportunity for you to take that memorable photograph.

Our Christmas Market will be held at Barnfield College in Luton on 23 and 24 November 2024, 10am โ 4pm. Every year we welcome around 1,500 shoppers through the doors.

๐ The Harpenden Christmas Carnival is a lively occasion with an abundance of:
โญ๏ธLive entertainment,
โญ๏ธActivities,
โญ๏ธFood and drink,
โญ๏ธOutdoor bars and music
โญ๏ธChristmas Farmersโ Market.
โญ๏ธSanta and his cheeky elves will be at the event again this year and there will be the opportunity to see them in the Procession as well as in his Grotto.
๐ THE PROCESSION BEGINS AT 3PM
The Procession will begin at 3pm; from Lydekker Park it will travel along the High Street up to Vaughan Road. This year its theme is "A Harpenden Winter Wonderland" and the Town Council has opened the opportunity to join in to even more groups than before, making it an even bigger showstopper at the event. The Pipes and Drums will lead the parade as tradition dictates, closely followed by Santa and his elves. Joining them are stilt walkers and entertainers, Brownies and Rainbows groups, Police Cadets, Harpenden Colts FC, schools, entertainers, musicians, community groups and the cast of this yearโs Harpenden Panto.

The Christmas Lights will be switched on at 5pm by The Town Mayor, Cllr Pip Liver, together with the winner of the Mayorโs Christmas Card Competition, a design competition open to children in Harpenden. This is always a show stopping moment for the Town and a time to appreciate the hospitality and breadth of the best of Harpenden.
๐งฆ CRAFT WORKSHOPS
Craft Workshops will take place as usual in Park Hall, including childrenโs Christmas stocking decorating, Christmas sack printing, and wreath making.
๐จโ๐ EMERGENCY SERVICE OPEN DAY
Alongside the event, the fantastic Christmas Emergency Services Open Day will also be taking place again this year at the Harpenden Fire Station.
๐ง LOST & FOUND WRISTBANDS
For families attending with young children, there will be free lost child wristbands available at the Town Council Information Tent.
๐ ฟ๏ธ PARKING
Free parking for the event will be available at the Station car park starting at 12 noon; because of expected high attendance the Town Council encourages people to walk to the event where possible.

The Christmas light switch on will be at 4:30pm and Santa himself will be turning on our beautiful big Christmas tree, with the help of a special Princess guest!

We will have Christmas carols and fabulous singing from Encore Theatre Company, Swallowfield Lower School and St Bernadetteโs Catholic School on the day. Come along and support the young children with lots of clapping and a fabulous audience.
