At Hammer Hill you will have the option of taking a ride on two more of our railways - The Springfield Line from platform 2 and The Winterfield Line from platform 3 - tickets for both are sold at Hammer Hill.

The picnic area at Hammer Hill will also be open for you to use, from where you will be able to watch the Garden Line in operation.

🌺 From the first Wednesday in May to the last in September 2025, we open the doors of the Walled Garden, Luton and welcome visitors to our unique Capability Brown designed walled garden and its unique service buildings.
🌹 WHAT TO EXPECT
Entrance includes a fascinating tour of the walled garden and visitors are encouraged to break their visit with a picnic or a visit to the Woodyard Café. The garden is best enjoyed at a snail’s pace, entrance is for all day! Notice boards and displays are updated throughout the season allowing fascinating insight into the garden’s rich history.
♿️ ACCESSIBILITY
Every effort has been made to make the garden accessible to as many visitors as possible. With that in mind we have recently finished resurfacing the area around the sundial making it far easier for wheeled access. However, due to the age and rich history of the garden there are some areas that are not accessible by wheelchair. Please inform members of the Walled Garden Project at the entrance and every effort will be made to provide an alternative route, provide commentary on the area, or help with pushing if there are volunteers available. Disabled toilets are available within the conservatory.

Dogs on leads with well-behaved owners are most welcome at the Walled Garden.

As everyone arrives at the park at different times it is difficult to meet at the centre. Please make your way to the wood for the start of your session.

we will be in Russett's Plantation between the play area and Woburn Road.
You can access the woodland via a gate on the right hand side of the play area as you stand with your back to the carpark.

from the green hut at the edge of the car park, follow the path through the woods (keeping Woburn Road on your right) and turn left at the bench. Ruth will be up the hill on the right.

There is free car parking on Hastoe Lane. It has 48 spaces, including three Blue Badge holder spaces and two parent-and-toddler spaces.
Alternative car parks are available off the High Street. The car parks managed by Dacorum Borough Council are free for the first hour with a small charge after that.

We have had some great feedback from doing this the last two years, as most places seem to be putting their prices up, so we thought we'd do it again this summer.

July 30th and August 3rd, 6th, 13th, 17th, 20th, 27th and 31st...
Summer holiday Steaming Days are generally held on Wednesdays and Sundays from 30th July to 31st August 2025. There are only a couple of dates not included and that is because they are special event days.
🚂 WHAT IS A STEAMING DAY?
Come and enjoy steam train rides, watch the model trains, ride the miniature railway, visit our huge Railway Museum and stunning Visitor Centre, plus you can see inside the Travelling Post Office carriages. There are 25 acres to explore! We also have a lovely café, gift shop and secondhand book shop. There's so much to see and do for a First Class day out with the kids this summer!
