🚂 Steaming Days is when we have a full-size steam train in action, ready to take you for a ride up and down our track! We also have miniature ride-on trains which are run by our sister society VAMES, (there is a small £1.50 charge for this per person – under 3s are free.

The rest of the site is open including the Railway Museum, the Visitor Centre with Gift Shop and Railway Cafe, and the model trains are usually running too. Steaming Days are most Sundays (Easter-Halloween), and also some Bank Holidays and some Wednesdays during school holidays. We have 25-acres of Railwayland to explore! Come and enjoy your local heritage railway!
🐶 DOGS
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome around the site and on the train. The only area they are not permitted is in the cafe.

Carers are admitted free of charge with the person there caring for but MUST produce proof of status on arrival. If you cannot provide proof of status you will be charged full price.

💥 Northampton’s Annual Fireworks Spectacular will be on Saturday 1st November 2025 at The Racecourse. Entry is FREE!
Entertainment will begin at 4pm, with live stage hosted by BBC Northamptonshire fun fair rides, big screen showcase, facepainting, stalls and catering village.

Kicking off proceedings, live band Funk Odyssey Band Official Page. get the party well and truly started, followed by the Live Performers who will wow the crowds with their daring Fire and Pyro Show.
📽 A FILM - approx. 4.15pm and 5.35pm.
The Northamptonshire Gunpowder Plot heritage film will play on big screens, telling the tale of how history’s most infamous attempt to bring down the Houses of Parliament has links to the county and resulted in the eponymous Guy Fawkes Night; produced by Northampton Film Festival.
Plus bringing this special year of commemorations for the 350th Anniversary of The Great Fire of Northampton to a close, 2025’s fireworks event pays tribute to this significant milestone in Northampton’s history. Step back in time to 1675 with a free family adventure in the town centre and learn more about Northampton’s heritage with The Explore Northampton App Virtual Trail; produced by AR Media Productions Ltd.
🎇 FIREWORKS - 6PM
The evening will be topped off with a spectacular fireworks finale at 6pm!

Our SENDsational mornings offer children with neurodiverse conditions, including autism and other sensory processing difficulties, the chance to take part in activities and enjoy our galleries with their families and siblings away from the hustle and bustle of the general public.
▪️AGE INFORMATION
This event is best for children aged five to 15 and siblings are welcome.
👍 What can you expect from the experience?
- ✨️ Visitors have access to a few activities including specimen handling, crafting and a gallery trail.
- ✨️ All activities are supported by experienced, autism-aware facilitators.
- ✨️ A sensory space will be available for those children needing a quieter and calmer space.
- ✨️ All of the galleries, outdoor spaces and the shop will be accessible throughout the event.
- ✨️ Each event has a different theme. In May it's rainforests, in August it's Oceans and the theme for November is Autumn.
🎟 FREE BUT MUST BE BOOKED
Walk-ups are not possible - you must have a ticket. Adult tickets are limited to three per group.
