👻 Supper and ghost hunt at The New Lowndes Arms in Whaddon

Time: 19:30 - 01:00 Price: £49.50

🏚 The New Lowndes Arms is a historic pub dating back to the 16th century, which served as a courtroom up until the 1850s, when it became a pub. Parts of the building date back to 1593 and is now a Grade II listed building.

👻 THE GREY LADY
The pub has a rich history of being haunted, with the most famous tale revolving around the Grey Lady, who is often spotted to the right of the fireplace.

👻 THE MAN
In addition to the Grey Lady, there have been sightings of a man by the green couch to the right of the bar.

👻 THE 80'S LADY AND THE LADIES TOILETS
Also, strange occurrences have been reported, such as the sound of furniture scraping across the floors upstairs and objects mysteriously being relocated. A lady in 80’s clothing has sometimes been seen walking around the bar. And the lady’s toilets have also been reported to be haunted but I’m not sure what the details are of that.

👀 OUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
During our first visit, a woman experienced her hair being tugged while she was seated by the fireplace, and we also had some remarkable scrying results with mirrors in the bar area.

During a recent visit, both Lucy and I encountered a strange sensation at the bottom of the stairs, where we felt as if someone was standing right beside us. Coincidentally, someone in the kitchen also reported hearing tapping on the door, although neither of us was making any noise.

This will be our second visit to this enchanting pub, and we eagerly anticipate discovering more about the secrets that lie within its walls.

👀 WHAT TO EXPECT
The evening will kick off with guests arriving at 7:30 PM, followed by dinner at 8 PM.

There is a choice of meals so please select when booking your tickets from the dropdown menu. While we plan to wrap up by 1 AM, we may extend the festivities if there’s still a lot happening. We hope to see you there!

😋 MEAL CHOICES
⭐️ Chicken breast cooked in a creamy white wine sauce serve with garlic and herb new potatoes and tenders stem broccoli.

⭐️ Slow cooked lamb shoulder over a bed of creamy mash with mint gravy and tender stem broccoli.

⭐️ Sausage and mash in an onion gravy, vegetarian and vegan options available.

⭐️ Home-made lasagne, with salad and garlic bread vegan and vegetarian option also available.

🏛 Free Panacea Museum in Bedford 2025

Time: 10:00 - 16:00 Price: £0.00

🏡A FREE MUSEUM IN BEDFORD- The Panacea, a beautiful Victorian House.
Discover the amazing story of the unique religious community that created its own Garden of Eden in the centre of Bedford. The museum has beautiful gardens to walk around.

OPEN:
Thursday - Sunday, 10am - 4pm
(last admission 3.30pm)

📖 SOME INTERESTING HISTORY
The Panacea Society was originally called ‘The Community of the Holy Ghost’, and was made up mostly of women. Its leader was Mabel Barltrop – the widow of an English clergyman, and mother of four children– whose followers called her ‘Octavia’.

Octavia. The founder of the Panacea Society.

During the 1920s, followers of the Panacea Society moved to Bedford to live near Octavia. Eventually, the community was able to combine the gardens of several properties to form ‘the campus’ – a private space between the community houses, with a chapel at its centre.

From this headquarters, the Society operated a religious organisation which reached across the world. Over two thousand people became members of the Panacea Society, in Europe, North America and many parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth.

From its beginning, the Panacea Society expected the end of the world. Society members were convinced that God would soon act to bring about a new age – a period of peace and happiness called ‘the Millennium’.

The Panacea Society was part of a wider religious movement of groups concerned with prophecy. The Panaceans believed that God was speaking to them through Octavia, but her followers did not believe she was the only modern prophet. Rather, they accepted a lineage of seven prophetic voices since the late 1700s – a tradition they called ‘the Visitation’.
