🚶♀️Greensand Ridge Walk: Eversholt to Ampthill Walk - June 2026

ℹ️ ABOUT
This walk will be a 7.75 mile guided walk. Meet/park at Ampthill Park and coach transport will be provided to the walk start point in Eversholt. We will begin walking in Eversholt, joining the Greensand Ridge Walk all the way to Ampthill Park where the cars are parked.

Parking available at Ampthill Park free of charge.

▪️ Due to coach travel restrictions, dogs are not permitted.
▪️ Unfortunately the route is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.
▪️ The walks will only be able to go ahead if enough tickets are sold to cover the cost of the transportation. Should we not sell sufficient tickets to cover the costs, we will have to cancel the event and tickets will be refunded.
▪️ If the walks go ahead, tickets are only refundable if there is someone on the waiting list able to take your place.
▪️ The walk will go through typical Greensand Country landscapes, hence toilets will be few and far between.
▪️ Under 18s welcome if accompanied by an adult.

🕥 TIMES
Trains depart Haynes End between 10:30 and 15:45 (approx.), trains leaving Haynes End after 15:45 will not stop at Hammer Hill. We close at 16:00.
🛤 JOURNEY INFORMATION
The Summerfield Line will take you between Haynes End Station and Hammer Hill Station.
At Hammer Hill you will have the option of taking a ride on two more of our railways - The Springfield Line from platform 2 and The Winterfield Line from platform 3 - tickets for both are sold at Hammer Hill.

The picnic area at Hammer Hill will also be open for you to use, from where you will be able to watch the Garden Line in operation.

🥔 Flitton Potato Race 2026
Time: 10:00 - 16:00
Run, walk or stagger your way through a mile carrying a sack of spuds, all while raising money for charities, local projects and good causes. With roots going back over 100 years, this much-loved community event is a brilliant day out for all ages.
🥔 ABOUT THE RACE
There are race categories for all ages, with competitors carrying 20kg, 10kg, 5kg or 2kg depending on the category. You can take on the full mile solo or gather your team and enter as a relay of four. There are also fun Spud & Spoon races for children aged 9 and under, making this a proper family-friendly event with plenty of laughs along the way.
💚 A BEDFORDSHIRE TRADITION
The Flitton Potato Race has a fascinating history, believed to date back to the old farming days when labourers raced with heavy sacks of potatoes for the chance to keep them. Over the years the race has been revived, reimagined and kept alive by the local community, with today’s event finishing at The White Hart pub and welcoming everyone from serious runners to fancy dress fun-lovers.
