👵 RED RIDING HOOD AUGUST 2024 SUMMER FAMILY SHOW. Red Riding Hood is our summer pantomime live at the Olde Watermill this August. Red Riding Hood is off to the Watermill Woods to visit her Grandma, Dame Cupcake, with a basket full of their famous home-baked cupcakes. But, oh dear, the Wicked Wolf is following her because he wants to steal their secret cupcake recipe, and will try any trick to get it. Red Riding Hood and Dame Cupcake need your help to keep their recipe safe and win the cupcake bake-off.
🧚♀️A traditional Pantomime with fun for all the family to enjoy, full of comedy, songs, colourful costumes, a few baking tips, lots of joining in and perhaps a sprinkle of Fairy magic too. 💼 The Guy In The Luggage Rack is an aerial theatre show about grief, memory and relationship. This narrative show combines physical comedy with striking aerial acrobatics and is the debut live show from She Said Jump.
“Daisyʼs mum died, nearly a year ago now. Sheʼs fine. Sheʼs busy. She canʼt complain. Except sheʼs got this slight issue with an invisible guy that wonʼt leave her alone and itʼs becoming increasingly difficult to get on with getting on.” Daisy is doing her best to keep her chin up and her head down - but as the 1st anniversary of her mumʼs death approaches she begins to realise grief isnʼt something she can put aside indefinitely, and whether sheʼs willing to admit it or not, things arenʼt fine.
From the silly to the sublime to the scary to the ridiculous, Daisy wrestles (sometimes literally) with her grief - Ian, a 6 foot invisible bald guy with a lot of luggage - eventually discovering that by letting him into her world she is able to reconnect with the memory of her mother.

🏃♀️Get ready to unleash your inner athlete and join in the fun with our Summer Games Trail!
Sprint, Balance, Limbo, Jump and Sail your way through the 10 mini challenges at each trail point, noting your score on the trail sheet as you go along.

So this maze is free to go too, kids & adults will love it...... if you can find it that is!😁
🤔SO WHERE IS IT?
This FREE MAZE is located at the wonderful Roxton Garden Centre in Bedfordshire. When you enter the car park you will not see any signposts for it. As you go in the car park facing the garden centre turn right, then turn left as if you are heading for a dead end, it may seem like you are heading for the delivery entrance but there you will see trees on your right and a sign in front of you 'Roxton Maze'.
The maze is located next to the garden centre in a spacious field with a few benches to sit on. At the moment it is being trimmed back due to some hanging branches, we had to duck and dive a few times but it added to all the fun we had.
♿️ IS THE MAZE SUITABLE FOR PUSHCHAIRS OR WHEELCHAIRS?
I would say it is NOT suitable as there are branches, some on the floor and hanging low, some spaces may not be big enough and also the surface may not be suitable in my personal opinion. But the Garden Centre itself is wheelchair friendly.
🔓WHEN IS THE MAZE OPEN?
The Maze is open the same time when the Garden Centre is open. The details are below.

The garden centre is wheelchair friendly and dog friendly. You can buy things from plants, to clothes, to toys. When we visited on 03/08/24 we saw reduced clothes,suitcases, plants and other various things. So it's definitely worth a look!
☕️THE CAFE
The cafe has hot and cold food and drink options at reasonable prices. There is a kids menu and an indoor & outdoor space with unmbrellas to sit in the sun and relax amongst the outdoor flower section of the Garden Centre. Dogs are allowed but they are not allowed in the main restaurant area. Just ask staff if you are not sure, they will be happy to help.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t picked up a paintbrush since school, our artist will walk you through creating your masterpiece. You’ll be delighted as your blank canvas transforms in just a few hours, made all the better by good company, music, and a glass of wine or two! You don’t need to bring anything apart from yourself…

Although we provide aprons, it might be worth wearing old clothes (just in case).

Bedford Borough Council is launching August Activity Days, a free event designed to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for residents of all ages.No booking required just turn up!
⭐️Taking place on : Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 August
⭐️From 10am - 4pm
⭐️Where? Harpur Square, Bedford.
The event promises something for everyone. The two-day extravaganza will feature a wide range of free activities, including:
💃dance,
🧘♀️fitness, and sports sessions.
From street dance to yoga, body combat to pickleball, there will be something to suit all tastes and abilities.
SEN SESSIONS
The first hour of each day will be dedicated to SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), offering inclusive activities for all ages, plus there’ll be a rhyme time for young children too. In addition to the physical activities, a Health Village will provide information and advice on health and wellbeing.
Visitors can learn about the Healthwise programme, learn how to access blood pressure checks, and find out more about mental health support.

🎼Zone A: 11-11:45 *Rhyme time* aimed at 6 year olds and under provide by Bedford Central Library
