Join Ghostly Gatherings for a paranormal investigation at The British Schools Museum on Saturday 19th September 2026. This will be their third visit to the museum – and if previous experiences are anything to go by, it promises to be a seriously spine-tingling evening.
🏫 ABOUT THE VENUE
Used by many paranormal groups, this building has a long history of spooky goings on. As the last surviving Monitorial Schoolroom in the world, it’s also an incredible place to explore in its own right – packed with atmosphere, history and plenty of stories from the past.
😱 PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES
During an initial walkround back in 2019, the organiser reports witnessing a school mistress dressed in a tweed two-piece in one of the girls’ classrooms, a shadow figure at the end of the upstairs corridor, and hearing a baby crying in the headmaster’s living quarters. There were also EMF readings and trigger objects, including cat balls, being activated.

Nestled in the valley between Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead along the A4251 (formerly A41-the Roman Akeman Steet), Bourne End is a village shaped by its ancient chalk stream, the Bulbourne, its people and its rich history. This heritage walk follows roads, footpaths, and the Grand Union Canal, revealing the stories, buildings and characters that have left their mark.

The walk takes place across country lanes, tow paths and narrow foot paths. There is one up-hill stretch. Stout walking shoes are recommended and people should carry a bottle of water. This walk in not suitable for people with mobility issues or wheelchairs. Refreshments and toilets are available in the Anchor public house.

🌺 The Walled Garden Open Day 2026

🌹 WHAT TO EXPECT
Entrance includes a fascinating tour of the walled garden and visitors are encouraged to break their visit with a picnic or a visit to the Woodyard Café. The garden is best enjoyed at a snail’s pace, entrance is for all day! Notice boards and displays are updated throughout the season allowing fascinating insight into the garden’s rich history.
♿️ ACCESSIBILITY
Every effort has been made to make the garden accessible to as many visitors as possible. With that in mind we have recently finished resurfacing the area around the sundial making it far easier for wheeled access. However, due to the age and rich history of the garden there are some areas that are not accessible by wheelchair. Please inform members of the Walled Garden Project at the entrance and every effort will be made to provide an alternative route, provide commentary on the area, or help with pushing if there are volunteers available. Disabled toilets are available within the conservatory.
