Now, theyโre bringing the sounds and vibes of the best jazz clubs to theatres around the country โ with an electrifying show packed full of energy, top-notch musicianship, and bags of their signature wit and charm.
๐ค WHAT TO EXPECT
In this new show for 2025, you'll hear instrumental songs from the likes of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Glenn Miller, vocal classics from singers such as Nat 'King' Cole, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, and original arrangements of jazz standards penned by the bandโs own musicians.
Down for the Count recreate classic tunes from the Swing Era, but this is no mere nostalgia trip โ the band perform each song in their own unmistakable style, breathing new life into the best vintage music. Combine that with the top-tier instrumental solos, sublime vocal performances, and irresistible warmth and joie de vivre, and you get a show that will leave you in the highest spirits, wanting more.
โฟ๏ธ ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION
The Quarry Theatre aims to make all its facilities accessible to all members of the community. Both the main auditorium and studio theatre have step-free/wheelchair access and we have an accessible toilet with baby-changing facilities in the bar. The main auditorium is also installed with an induction loop. The theatre forecourt has provision for two 'Blue Badge' parking spaces but we advise you call to book a space. Four seats on the front row of the stalls are reserved for those not able to use steps. These are not put on sale online, so please call if you would like to book these on 01234 362337 or by e-mail to boxoffice@quarrytheatre.org.uk.
๐ ฟ๏ธ PARKING INFORMATION
We have space for two 'Blue Badge' vehicles on the theatre forecourt. Please let us know if you would like to reserve a space in advance, as often the forecourt area is used by visiting company vehicles. We recommend using the St Peter's Street Car Park. This is only 2 - 3 mins walk from the venue and free after 6pm weekdays and Sundays. On Saturdays the council are currently offering up to 2 hours free parking in their car parks (updated 05/12/23).

๐ ABOUT THE OLDE WATERMILL SHOPPING VILLAGE
The Olde Watermill Shopping Village is set in and around an historic Watermill.
There has been a Watermill on the site since 1086 as the Watermill is mentioned in the Domesday book and it is one of the oldest overshot Watermills in the country.
Over the last few years, it has been lovingly restored and is now home to over 20 unique and individual shops as well as the Mill House Restaurant, Tea Room & Cafe, an antique centre, Millerโs Shopping Arcade and a soft play area for the children.

Trains depart Haynes End between 10:30 and 15:30 (approx.), we close at 16:00.
Steam engines will also be in action as often as we are able.

At Hammer Hill you will have the option of taking a ride on two more of our railways - The Springfield Line from platform 2 and The Winterfield Line from platform 3 - tickets for both are sold at Hammer Hill.
The picnic area at Hammer Hill will also be open for you to use, from where you will be able to watch the Garden Line in operation.
At Haynes End the Station Buffet will be open for refreshments and picnic tables are available for your use on the grass outside.

We do try to run even when the weather is not at its best, but will have to cease operations should conditions dictate.

โน๏ธ THE MILL
There are three floors to view. We recommend the minimum time would be 15 minutes for each floor. There is a lift in the mill which allows full access to all three floors, there is also a toilet, for disabled visitors.
๐ณ THE NATURE RESERVE
The Nature Reserve is open all year round, except 10th-11th May and 4th-5th October 2025. A circular walk takes around 45 minutes.
๐ถ ABOUT DOGS
With the exception of guide dogs, we do not allow dogs in the mill. We welcome well behaved dogs in the Nature Reserve and ask that they be kept on leads at all times โ many animals and birds breed or feed on the reserve, at or near ground level at all seasons of the year.
