🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Visit the Market Square, the King's Head, and Friars Square Shopping Centre in Aylesbury on Sunday 26th April 2026 to get involved in all the St George’s Day festivities!

Women in History Fayre: 12-4pm


🎭 FRIARS SQUARE
Enjoy a packed programme of activities, games and performances for the whole family! Have a go at our coin-minting workshop, get creative with crafts from Queens Park Arts Centre and Wildwood Wonders, and meet a host of walkabout characters from Florence Nightingale to Anne Boleyn. Don’t miss the themed performance from Unbound Theatre and a fun trail to explore around the space.

📖 KINGS HEAD PUB
With Elizabethan-era musicians, a historic storyteller, and free talks from the Buckinghamshire Historical Association and Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, the King’s Head is not to be missed. The festivities will be rounded off with our annual historic pub quiz, so come along to put your knowledge to the test!

🐎 MARKET SQUARE
Meet St George and his leading lady on horseback in Market Square, alongside a host of historic characters and a towering dragon on stilts. Don’t miss the interactive performance from the Thornycroft Girls, Wonder Women of the War, before the Morris dancers build excitement for the Unifomed Parade.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 GRAND UNIFORMED PARADE: 4-5pm
Come along to the Grand Uniformed Parade and help us celebrate the commitment, time, energy and enthusiasm of our Scouts, Uniformed Youth groups, and the adults who support them. Led by St George on horseback and dancers from SDSD, the parade will conclude with a Service of Thanks and the renewal of pledges — a wonderful way to end the celebrations.

🌸 Ickwell Green May Day Festival 2026


Time: 10:00 - 15:00

🎉 On Monday 4th May, the annual May Day will be held in Northill & Ickwell, Bedfordshire. In Celtic times, May Day was celebrated with the festival of Beltane (the Anglicised spelling of the Gaelic god Bealtaine) whose name meant good fire or God of Light.

📍IN NORTHILL
May Day 2026 celebrations start in the car park of The Crown Public House, Northill.

▪️11.30 am - Morris Men dance.
▪️12.45 pm -  Children assemble with their decorated hoops.
▪️1 pm - The judging of the decorated hoops takes place. The procession is assembled.
▪️1.30 pm - The procession leaves for Ickwell Green - a half mile walk down the village road. This road is closed to vehicular traffic for the duration of the procession.

📍AT ICKWELL GREEN
​A selection of stalls, refreshments and entertainments are available opposite the Maypole arena from 10 am onwards.

🪑 Seating: Seats in the arena are available from 12 noon. Adults £2, Children under 16 £1.

👑 Crowning: 2 pm Crowning of the 2026 May Queen, followed by dancing by children and adults from within the Parish.

🅿️ FACILITIES 
Car parking and toilets are available and there is disabled car parking close to the arena in Ickwell.

🌸 Heath & Reach May Fayre 2026 - St Leonards Church Hall


Time: 13:00

🌸 St Leonards Church will be having their May Farye on Saturday 16th May 2026 from 1pm.
