🎤 The Untouchables at The Bear Club in Luton

Time: 19:00 - 23:55

🕺With a string bass, a cranked guitar played through a hot valve amp, and a wailing harp, The Untouchables turn The Bear Club in Luton into a rockin' juke joint.

▪️Doors: 7pm
▪️Music: 8.30pm
▪️All seating/tables are first come first served.

The band are champions of raw blues and swinging soul, with a sound based on the great artists who recorded for Chess Records in the 1950's.

When they take to the stage, you’ll be transported back to the days of rent parties and rumbas, when the great blues masters kept them dancing until the early hours. Expect some dancing, but this will be an intimate show, drawing you into the place where blues, jazz, and Latin rhythms meet.

“If you like Little Walter, Bo Diddley or Willie Dixon, then this is as close as you’ll get to seeing them live... utterly superb”
— Live Unsigned

“A night of pure blues heaven”
— Wiltshire Gazette and Herald

POP STUDIO4 is a shared working artist studio that opened in May 2023 as part of the Pride Of Place Bedford Project (POP), founded by studio artist and creative producer Talia Giles.  Located in The Arcade in Bedford town centre; a hub of independent makers and shops; each artist has their own dedicated working space and the real joy of the shared studio is in the collective spirit, and the exchanging of creative ideas and techniques.

Pride of Place Bedford is an artist-let cultural placemaking initiative which aims to reinvent and reimagine retail and office space across the town centre and POP STUDIO4 is a testament to the project’s success to date.

Founder Talia Giles says “The vision has always been to help nurture and
grow the creative ecosystem here in Bedford and it is my hope that I can open up more shared studio spaces such as these across the town centre using long-term vacant units.”

In the run up to the Open Studio Big Weekend POP STUDIO4 artists will be releasing video interviews and behind the scenes snapshots of life in the studio on their socials.

🏛 Free Panacea Museum in Bedford 2025

Time: 10:00 - 16:00 Price: £0.00

🏡A FREE MUSEUM IN BEDFORD- The Panacea, a beautiful Victorian House.
Discover the amazing story of the unique religious community that created its own Garden of Eden in the centre of Bedford. The museum has beautiful gardens to walk around.

OPEN:
Thursday - Sunday, 10am - 4pm
(last admission 3.30pm)

📖 SOME INTERESTING HISTORY
The Panacea Society was originally called ‘The Community of the Holy Ghost’, and was made up mostly of women. Its leader was Mabel Barltrop – the widow of an English clergyman, and mother of four children– whose followers called her ‘Octavia’.

Octavia. The founder of the Panacea Society.

During the 1920s, followers of the Panacea Society moved to Bedford to live near Octavia. Eventually, the community was able to combine the gardens of several properties to form ‘the campus’ – a private space between the community houses, with a chapel at its centre.

From this headquarters, the Society operated a religious organisation which reached across the world. Over two thousand people became members of the Panacea Society, in Europe, North America and many parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth.

From its beginning, the Panacea Society expected the end of the world. Society members were convinced that God would soon act to bring about a new age – a period of peace and happiness called ‘the Millennium’.

The Panacea Society was part of a wider religious movement of groups concerned with prophecy. The Panaceans believed that God was speaking to them through Octavia, but her followers did not believe she was the only modern prophet. Rather, they accepted a lineage of seven prophetic voices since the late 1700s – a tradition they called ‘the Visitation’.

🎭 AGATHA CRUSTY and the Village Hall Murders playing at The Little Theatre in Dunstable

Time: 19:45 - 22:15

🧐 Agatha Crusty (pronounced Croosty) is a crime novelist. She ís also pretty adept at solving crimes. And when her sister-in-law Alice invites her to spend a few days with her in the village of Chortelby, it’s not long before she gets caught up in a series of murders which seem directed at members of the All Saints Village Hall committee.

2025 DATES & TIMES:

▪️Saturday 15th March - 2pm & 7.45pm

▪️Thursday  20th March - 7.45pm
▪️Friday 21st March - 7.45pm
▪️Saturday 22nd March - 7.45pm

🤭 EVENT DETAILS
From Toby, the Vicar, and Eleanor, Chair of the committee, to Harry Knott the caretaker and identical twins Olivia and Oliver Truscott-Pratt, there are plenty of suspects. And with an investigating officer as incompetent as D.I. Twigg, there are plenty of laughs as the murders begin to pile up. But, while packed full of wit and very funny scenes, this is also a genuine murder mystery with an ingenious plot which will tax the little grey cells of the audience at the same time!
