๐ฅ WHAT TO EXPECT
Police Dog Hogan combine guitar, fiddle, banjo, trumpet and accordion with bass and drums to create a driving country-folk sound that has earned them a large live following. Theyโve played dozens of festivals, many of them repeatedly, including Glastonbury, Cropredy, Cornbury, Kendall Calling, Black Deer and the Sidmouth Folk Festival.
โน๏ธ ABOUT THE BAND
The band also spent much of 2023 in the studio, releasing regular new singles to streaming platforms beginning with the stunning Just Breathe in April โ each track produced (with the band) by George Murphy, who also produced Overground. 2024 sees plans already advanced for an autumn tour and a new album.
In 2020 the band released a charity Christmas single, My First Christmas Alone, along with a video. That song helped to raise over ยฃ50k for the charity Crisis and reached No1 in the iTunes country charts.
In 2018 their song Devon Brigade was nominated for best original song at the AMA-UK Awards.
Overground was their first full-length release since 2017โs Wild By The Side of the Road, produced by Oysterbandโs Al Scott, which spent several weeks in the Official UK Americana charts. The tour supporting that album culminated in a sold out show at Londonโs Shepherdโs Bush Empire.
In 2014 PDH were one of only three UK bands invited to Nashville to perform at the prestigious Americana Music Association Awards, where DJ Bob Harris โ in town for the awards โ snapped them up for a recording that has become one of the most-watched YouTube videos on his โUnder the Apple Tree Sessionsโ channel.
Police Dog Hogan are: James Studholme (guitar vocals), Eddie Bishop (fiddle, mandolin), Tim Dowling (banjo, steel guitar), Emily Norris (trumpet), Shahen Galichian (accordion, piano), Don Bowen (bass), Alistair Hamer (drums).

๐ SOME INTERESTING HISTORY
The Panacea Society was originally called โThe Community of the Holy Ghostโ, and was made up mostly of women. Its leader was Mabel Barltrop โ the widow of an English clergyman, and mother of four childrenโ whose followers called her โOctaviaโ.

During the 1920s, followers of the Panacea Society moved to Bedford to live near Octavia. Eventually, the community was able to combine the gardens of several properties to form โthe campusโ โ a private space between the community houses, with a chapel at its centre.
From this headquarters, the Society operated a religious organisation which reached across the world. Over two thousand people became members of the Panacea Society, in Europe, North America and many parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth.
From its beginning, the Panacea Society expected the end of the world. Society members were convinced that God would soon act to bring about a new age โ a period of peace and happiness called โthe Millenniumโ.
The Panacea Society was part of a wider religious movement of groups concerned with prophecy. The Panaceans believed that God was speaking to them through Octavia, but her followers did not believe she was the only modern prophet. Rather, they accepted a lineage of seven prophetic voices since the late 1700s โ a tradition they called โthe Visitationโ.

THE BEAT crossed over fluidly between soul, reggae, pop and punk, and from these disparate pieces they created an infectious dance rhythm. Along with their contemporaries The Specials, The Selecter, and Madness, The Beat became an overnight sensation and one of the most popular and influential bands of the British ska movement.
By Christmas of 1979, The Beat were riding high in the UK charts with their first single, a smoking remake of the classic Smokey Robinson tune Tears of a Clown.
Over the course of the next five years The Beat toured relentlessly and released three studio albums: โI Just Canโt Stop Itโ, โWhโappenโ, both reaching number 3 in The UK album charts and โSpecial Beat Serviceโ.
