📖 SOME INTERESTING HISTORY
The Panacea Society was originally called ‘The Community of the Holy Ghost’, and was made up mostly of women. Its leader was Mabel Barltrop – the widow of an English clergyman, and mother of four children– whose followers called her ‘Octavia’.

During the 1920s, followers of the Panacea Society moved to Bedford to live near Octavia. Eventually, the community was able to combine the gardens of several properties to form ‘the campus’ – a private space between the community houses, with a chapel at its centre.
From this headquarters, the Society operated a religious organisation which reached across the world. Over two thousand people became members of the Panacea Society, in Europe, North America and many parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth.
From its beginning, the Panacea Society expected the end of the world. Society members were convinced that God would soon act to bring about a new age – a period of peace and happiness called ‘the Millennium’.
The Panacea Society was part of a wider religious movement of groups concerned with prophecy. The Panaceans believed that God was speaking to them through Octavia, but her followers did not believe she was the only modern prophet. Rather, they accepted a lineage of seven prophetic voices since the late 1700s – a tradition they called ‘the Visitation’.

🎤 We’re really pleased to welcome this genre-blending indie folk band to The Bear Club in Luton for what promises to be an evening of beautiful, hypnotic music.
🎸 ABOUT THE RABBITTS
The Rabbitts have been described as "ethereal and understated" on BBC Radio 6 Music and their unique and colourful sound is characterised by delicate harmonies and an intricately interwoven tapestry of mandolin, guitar, bass, and drums. It’s a pretty, delicate, warm sound (which has been described as “like a long hug on a summer’s day”!). Lucy’s crisp sometimes soaring vocals, recalling early Kate Bush (with a bit of Vashti Bunyan), blend beautifully with the voice of the other singer in the band, Odhran whose deeper, darker brown tones recall a touch of Tim Buckley or Fred Neil.

The Norwich-based band started 2024 with a full-band tour of the UK and have new music on the horizon. I went to the Munchkin Play Barn with my grandaughter. There is a lovely seating area for adults and a cafe that serves sandwiches, snacks & drinks. The seating area allows you to be in direct contact with your children to each section.

There is a section with a ball pit and slide, soft play area, a sandpit area and another area with toys such as play food & kitchen etc.

They also have a small outdoor area with a playhouse and rockers. (Weather permitting)

🛍 WHAT ELSE DOES THE OLDE WATERMILL HAVE TO OFFER?
Not only is this play barn great for children but it is located in Barton Mill which is a beautiful setting set back in time with a treasure of shops ranging from gifts, toys, plants, Christmas decorations, a fishing shop, sweet shop, psychic read readings, children's little money rides plus lots of others.
😋 FOOD & DRINK
There is a lovely pond with fish to watch, such a tranquil spot! You can sit by the pond under a canopy so you won't get wet and also be served there by the cafe/restaurant where I purchased a Mediterranean and cheese pannini for £6.49, I then added chips for an extra £1.50 ....so yummy!

This beautiful little treasure in Bedfordshire is more than just a play barn, with lots of things to see, shop, eat & drink!
If you want something to do with or without the children for a relaxing day why not try out this beautiful old mill for a morning/afternoon out. All Ages will love it!

🛍 WHAT ELSE DOES THE OLDE WATERMILL HAVE TO OFFER?
Not only is this play barn great for children but it is located in Barton Mill which is a beautiful setting set back in time with a treasure of shops ranging from gifts, toys, plants, Christmas decorations, a fishing shop, sweet shop, psychic read readings, children's little money rides plus lots of others.
😋 FOOD & DRINK
There is a lovely pond with fish to watch, such a tranquil spot! You can sit by the pond under a canopy so you won't get wet and also be served there by the cafe/restaurant where I purchased a Mediterranean and cheese pannini for £6.49, I then added chips for an extra £1.50 ....so yummy!

This beautiful little treasure in Bedfordshire is more than just a play barn, with lots of things to see, shop, eat & drink!
If you want something to do with or without the children for a relaxing day why not try out this beautiful old mill for a morning/afternoon out. All Ages will love it!
