Discover the amazing story of the unique religious community that created its own Garden of Eden in the centre of Bedford. The museum has beautiful gardens to walk around.

📖 SOME INTERESTING HISTORY
The Panacea Society was originally called ‘The Community of the Holy Ghost’, and was made up mostly of women. Its leader was Mabel Barltrop – the widow of an English clergyman, and mother of four children– whose followers called her ‘Octavia’.

During the 1920s, followers of the Panacea Society moved to Bedford to live near Octavia. Eventually, the community was able to combine the gardens of several properties to form ‘the campus’ – a private space between the community houses, with a chapel at its centre.
From this headquarters, the Society operated a religious organisation which reached across the world. Over two thousand people became members of the Panacea Society, in Europe, North America and many parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth.
From its beginning, the Panacea Society expected the end of the world. Society members were convinced that God would soon act to bring about a new age – a period of peace and happiness called ‘the Millennium’.
The Panacea Society was part of a wider religious movement of groups concerned with prophecy. The Panaceans believed that God was speaking to them through Octavia, but her followers did not believe she was the only modern prophet. Rather, they accepted a lineage of seven prophetic voices since the late 1700s – a tradition they called ‘the Visitation’.

Spooky Bizzle ... The 'Spartan' aka 'El Clarto' with over 20 years in the UK underground bass music scene as a legendary grime DJ and producer.
DJ Spooky, a pioneering figure in the grime scene, emerged during the genre's formative years in the early 2000s. Hailing from East London, the heartland of grime, Spooky developed a passion for underground music during the garage and jungle eras. His immersion in pirate radio culture served as his training ground, where he honed his craft mixing and broadcasting sets to the masses before grime fully solidified as a genre.
Spooky is best known for his raw, uncompromising approach to grime, both as a DJ and producer. His distinct style combines dark, hard-hitting instrumentals with rapid-fire mixing, embodying the energy and rebellious spirit of the genre. Throughout his career, he has been a fixture on pirate radio stations such as Deja Vu FM and Rinse FM, cementing his reputation as one of grime's hardest-working and most consistent selectors.
He gained notable recognition for "Spartan", one of the most iconic grime instrumentals, released in 2010. The track became a staple on the underground circuit and was instrumental in influencing a new wave of grime producers and MCs.
⚡️Dean Oakley
Dean has been mixing for over 20 years, specialising in UK garage and house with a big love for jungle, drum and bass, grime and anything with a chunky bassline.
A resident for Footwork as well as regular slots for Trapped, Bootleggin', and more as well as nights at Ministry of Sound in London, Rainbow Venues in Birmingham and most recently for UKG Brunch, Dean has developed a reputation as a versatile DJ who can shut down any dance floor.

🤭 Based on the hugely popular TV comedy series, this sequel to the popular stage production of ’Allo ’Allo continues the adventures of reluctant resistance hero and harassed café owner, René Artois, in German-occupied wartime France. It features many of your favourite characters from the TV series and original stage play.
ABOUT:
Still trying to repatriate a pair of British airmen, René, his wife Edith and their café waitresses, Mimi and Yvette, are embroiled in yet another complicated and life-threatening scheme. General Von Klinkerhoffen demands a fortune in francs in recompense for the loss of the infamous painting of ‘The Fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies’, and René is expected to come up with the cash.
But nothing is ever easy. The local undertaker, Monsieur Alphonse, is making advances on Edith. René’s mother-in-law, Fanny, objects to the radio used to communicate with London being hidden under her bed. No one can understand what Officer Crabtree (the British agent disguised as a Policeman) is saying. Michelle of the Resistance has a series of increasingly hare-brained proposals. Herr Flick of the Gestapo, Colonel Von Strohm and Captain Geering all have their own plans to get hold of the money, and Lieutenant Gruber still wants to take René away for a ride in his little tank… The cash, a set of forged notes and a bomb all end up hidden in identical camembert cheeses. What could possibly go wrong?
