🐞 For the Summer Holiday we have an Insect Trail available to pick up from the Visitor Centre at Rushmere Country Park. Find out all about the insects found in the park as you explore and then collect your reward!

Pick up your trail sheet for £3 in the Visitor Centre open 9am – 4pm daily. All proceeds from the trail are invested back into the park which is run on a not for profit basis.

Please note: Alex and the Taskmaster team sadly won’t be doing the tasks with you … which does mean you’re in charge. Questionable. But exciting.

Small dogs are welcome to  travel on the train, but they must be held or able to sit on the carriage. All dogs must be on a lead.

We have had some great feedback from doing this the last two years, as most places seem to be putting their prices up, so we thought we'd do it again this summer.

🗓 2025 DATES
July 30th and August 3rd, 6th, 13th, 17th, 20th, 27th and 31st...

Summer holiday Steaming Days are generally held on Wednesdays and Sundays from 30th July to 31st August 2025. There are only a couple of dates not included and that is because they are special event days.

🚂 WHAT IS A STEAMING DAY?
Come and enjoy steam train rides, watch the model trains, ride the miniature railway, visit our huge Railway Museum and stunning Visitor Centre, plus you can see inside the Travelling Post Office carriages. There are 25 acres to explore! We also have a lovely café, gift shop and secondhand book shop. There's so much to see and do for a First Class day out with the kids this summer!

We’ve partnered with TV’s Taskmaster to set you silly challenges as you explore. Collect your Taskmaster score card and complete your tasks. There might be a rubber duck or two to spot on the way too. Celebrate your silliness with some selfie shots when you reach the finishing zone.

Please note: Alex and the Taskmaster team sadly won’t be doing the tasks with you … which does mean you’re in charge. Questionable. But exciting.

Plus, aim for a hole in one with mini golf, and use your imagination to build your own nature themed play structure.

Each tale follows a lovable musical instrument on a journey to find a missing part of their musical self and discover the importance of courage, creativity, confidence, and friendship along the way. With performance, music-making and audience participation at every turn, these stories invite children to learn about musical instruments and move, clap, sing, imagine, and create together.

🐞 For the Summer Holiday we have an Insect Trail available to pick up from the Visitor Centre at Rushmere Country Park. Find out all about the insects found in the park as you explore and then collect your reward!

A brand new, bespoke Children's Play Area Heron's Hangout is now open for 2025! Perfect for young adventurers (ages 7+), Heron's Hangout includes nature-inspired play equipment where kids can climb, balance and explore in a safe outdoor setting.

🧚‍♀️ A Family accessible trail is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs where visitors can search for fairies and have a photograph in the Giant’s Chair.

👑 Stockwood Living History Festival 2025. Join us at Stockwood Discovery Centre, Luton where we journey through time as history comes alive.

🤩 WHAT TO EXPECT
You can meet characters from pre-Roman times up to WW2 - Tudors, Vikings, Medieval Knights and WW1 characters, including Henry VIII, Queen Victoria and Boudicca.

The festival recreates a glimpse of daily life through a variety of historical scenarios, performances, talks, music and traditional craft demos.  There’s lots on offer for kids including Knight School, themed art and craft activities, and archery.  Leading up to the Festival, the Stockwood Discovery Centre also offers free “Historical Nonsense” craft activities focusing on specific periods of history that are featured over the two days.

Come and experience Stockwood as it travels back in time!

🎶 We’re excited to announce that Bands in the Park is returning to Riverside Park this summer 2025! Join us every Sunday from 2:30pm to 4:30pm for a season full of incredible live music from some of the best local performers.
