Beneath the veneer of polite conversation and cheese and pineapple sticks lies a simmering undercurrent of ambition, resentment, and social one-upmanship. As Beverly and her husband Laurence host a soirée for their unsuspecting guests—Angela, Tony, and the anxious Sue (whose teenage daughter, Abigail, is throwing a party of her own nearby)—the evening spirals into a brilliantly uncomfortable clash of class, aspiration, and ego.
A sharply observed satire of middle-class pretensions and the cracks beneath the surface, Abigail’s Party is as deliciously excruciating as it is laugh-out-loud funny.
