🎤 The Skids + Special Guests - The Hat Factory Arts Centre, Luton
Time: 16:30 - 18:30
▪️AGE: 18+
🎤 THE SKIDS
“Memories fade but some linger for a reason. The Skids was the definitive part of my early life. A brilliant adventure into the world of creativity and adulthood. I was a kid when I joined the band in 1977 - 16 years old.
By the time the adventure had run aground I was a dazed and confused young man. We were fearless in the beginning, always trying new things and not afraid to be different in a musical world that was beginning to sound very derivative and safe.
Contrary to the reports from people who were never near the centre of the band, Stuart Adamson and I got on very well - in fact for a long time we were very close. I enjoyed writing with him - he was generous and incredibly adaptable to my unmusical ideas.
The Skids were not just another punk band - we were creatively ambitious as well as being close to the core beliefs of our hard-won fans. But most importantly we loved playing live. Taking these memories and replanting them into 2017 has not been easy. How do you do it? How should it sound? Are we little more than a tribute band? These were the questions rattling around my head as I tried to find a way to celebrate the bands 40th anniversary last year. The answers ended up being very simple - Don’t over think it - Just do it.
Enjoy every minute of it. Play the songs like it might be the last time. Give it everything. And then……. there’s the new stuff!!! The beginning of something new rather than the end of something old. Enter DESTINATION DUSSELDORF”
Richard Jobson
The Skids were at the heart of the punk scene in Scotland and took their music to London where they were signed by Virgin records. They made 4 albums and had numerous hit singles including Into the Valley, The Saints are Coming, Masquerade and Working for the Yankee Dollar.
After the cover version of The Saints are Coming by U2 and Green Day the remaining band members reformed and played to large audiences all over the UK including iconic London venues such as The Albert Hall and The Roundhouse as well as Barrowlands in Glasgow. Their recently released album Destination Dusseldorf went to no.1 in the vinyl charts.
Special guest TBC.

🎭 Fixing - The Hat Factory Arts Centre, Luton
Time: 20:00 - 21:15
I mean, Dad had just been through a divorce.
Now in their 30’s, Matt would like to learn how to fix a car engine. They’d like to learn a bit more about Dad, and that time, when Dad and Mum split up. The time when Matt and Dad were closest.
Matt can’t do this alone, which is tricky for a solo show. That’s where Matt’s drag alter-ego Natalie Spanner comes in. She knows all about things that girls like Natalie know about. Like how to build an engine. About maintenance, care and repair.
Together, Matt and Natalie will try to ask, in an increasingly broken world, how might we repair ourselves, together?
❗️ADVISORIES
Sexual references/innuendo, references to divorce, reference to child going missing

🎭 Bedford Drama Company presents An Evening of Tom Stoppard - The Place Theatre, Bedford
Time: 19:30 - 21:15
🗓 2026 DATES & TIME
▪️17th February - 21st January 2026
▪️Doors open: 7:00 PM
▪️Show start: 7.30PM
The Real Inspector Hound:
Moon and Birdboot, two drama critics, arrive to watch the performance of a new detective play, a parody of the conventional stage thriller. However the private lives of the critics become inextricably mixed with those of the play’s characters until Moon is shot dead and the real Inspector Hound proves to be… ?
Stoppard's play is an example of absurdism as well as farce, parody, and satire. Critics have often praised it as a witty depiction of the reviewer's craft.
If You’re Glad I’ll Be Frank:
To his astonishment Frank, a bus driver, recognises the voice of the GPO speaking clock as that of his long-lost wife. Determined to get her back, he forces his way into the inner sanctum of the Authorities to demand her release. She, meanwhile, still loving him, is almost broken by her never-ending recitation. Underlying the light-hearted story is a satiric comment on man’s servitude to the clock; and a reminder that Time itself is independent of the tick-tock of the clock.
A heap of hilarious characters and a witty script make a satiric comment on man's servitude to the clock.
