🌳 🚶‍♀️A Walk in the Park - The Place Theatre

Time: 19:30

🌃 A participatory performance and shared walk exploring women's safety, public spaces, and the night.

👣 THE REALITY & THE CONTEXT
Did you know that 70% of women in the UK have experienced sexual harassment in public? Meanwhile, a social media poll found that in a hypothetical world without men for a day, the overwhelming majority of women said they’d use the opportunity to go for a walk alone after dark.

🎭 AN ATMOSPHERIC EXPLORATION
Taking these findings as a starting point, A Walk in the Park is a participatory performance aimed at exploring our shared experience of public spaces. Combining authentic conversations, startling statistics and choreographed movement to create an atmospheric exploration of what it can feel like to walk alone in the dark, the performance ends with an invitation to the audience to leave the space together and walk through a nearby park or green space.

🌳 LEAVING THE SPACE TOGETHER
During this shared walk, participants are facilitated to share their experiences and build an installation of creative reflections. All voices and contributions are welcome, and audience members are free to participate as much or as little as they wish.

🗣️ AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
“Beyond anything, this show makes me feel seen.”
“The perfect form to start a conversation that can initiate change.”

😱 EVENT DETAILS
Chilling, intriguing and sometimes moving, prepare to investigate a collection of real-life potentially paranormal mysteries, as Danny tries to get to the heart of why we, as humans, continue to have a fear of the dark. Is it superstition? A remnant of our days as cavepeople huddled round a campfire? Or is there really something lurking out there in the darkness?

👽 WHO WILL JOIN DANNY?
Danny will be joined by experts Dr Ciarán O’Keeffe and Evelyn Hollow to examine ghostly apparitions, UFO sightings, a haunted nursery, strange creatures on lonely country lanes, and bizarre poltergeist activity in seemingly normal houses.

This is NOT an ordinary podcast show. This is story-telling and paranormal investigation at its peak. Using a unique backdrop of sound, video projection and theatrical magic, Danny will bring these stories vividly to life with the help of Ciarán and Evelyn, plus input from you the audience, as you get the chance to ask your questions and share your own experiences.
As always, whether you are #TeamSceptic, #TeamBeliever or somewhere in between, everyone is welcome.

😱 So... do you dare to enter the darkness?

Time: 19:30 - 22:15 Price: £28.00

🎶 Join the Down for the Count All-Stars, the UK’s hardest swinging band, for “one hellova celebration of vintage music” (TimeOut London) – it's time to Swing That Music!

🤩 WHAT TO EXPECT
Described as “a breath of fresh air on the swing scene” (Twinwood Festival) Down for the Count’s 10-piece mini big band is regularly found in jazz clubs across the UK and abroad (Ronnie Scott’s London, Le Caveau de la Huchette Paris), at festivals including London Jazz Festival, and on BBC Radio. Now they are bringing the sounds and feels of the best jazz clubs to theatres around the country – with an electrifying show full of incredible energy, musicianship, and their own signature wry wit and humour.

In the band’s updated show for 2026, you’ll hear instrumental songs from the likes of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Glenn Miller, vocal classics from singers such as Nat ‘King’ Cole, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, and original arrangements of jazz standards penned by musicians in the band.

Down for the Count recreate classic tunes from the Swing Era, but this is no mere nostalgia trip – the band perform each song in their own unmistakeable style, breathing new life into the best vintage music. Combine that with the band’s top class instrumental solos, sublime vocal performances, and irresistible warmth and joie de vivre, and you get a show that will leave you feeling uplifted and wanting more.
