We do not have changing facilities at the moment, but they are coming soon. Many swimmers opt to change underneath their dry robe, or you can change in the Tipi if its available.

We have some tow floats available to borrow if you donโt have your own.

We will still run wild swimming sessions in the rain, however for safety reasons the session might be cancelled during adverse weather conditions like thunderstorms and gale force winds.
โช๏ธAre there toilets at the lake?
We have one portaloo at the lake. The nearest other toilets are at Bean Theory, our on-site coffee shop (approx. 10 minute walk up the hill)
โช๏ธWhat should I wear for wild swimming?
Everyone is different, so please feel free to wear what feels comfortable for you, be it a swimsuit or wetsuit. Water shoes or socks can be helpful on the lake floor. Please also bring a towel and warm clothes.
๐บ GETTING TO THE LAKE:
On arrival at the estate, please follow the signs to the Bean Theory Car park. Once parked, walk down the gravel track on your left, below the vineyard. After a 5-minute stroll through the estate, your lifeguard will be at the lake to meet you.

You can meet characters from pre-Roman times up to WW2 - Tudors, Vikings, Medieval Knights and WW1 characters, including Henry VIII, Queen Victoria and Boudicca.

The festival recreates a glimpse of daily life through a variety of historical scenarios, performances, talks, music and traditional craft demos. Thereโs lots on offer for kids including Knight School, themed art and craft activities, and archery. Leading up to the Festival, the Stockwood Discovery Centre also offers free โHistorical Nonsenseโ craft activities focusing on specific periods of history that are featured over the two days.
Come and experience Stockwood as it travels back in time!

On your walk, discover hidden gems such as the Veteran Lime Tree, Doric Seat and Ha-ha, which survive from the 18th century English Landscape Garden design of the park and have been recently revealed, revived and restored as part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund project.

You can meet characters from pre-Roman times up to WW2 - Tudors, Vikings, Medieval Knights and WW1 characters, including Henry VIII, Queen Victoria and Boudicca.

The festival recreates a glimpse of daily life through a variety of historical scenarios, performances, talks, music and traditional craft demos. Thereโs lots on offer for kids including Knight School, themed art and craft activities, and archery. Leading up to the Festival, the Stockwood Discovery Centre also offers free โHistorical Nonsenseโ craft activities focusing on specific periods of history that are featured over the two days.

๐บ The Walled Garden - Luton Hoo Estate

๐บ From the first Wednesday in May to the last in September 2025, we open the doors of the Walled Garden, Luton and welcome visitors to our unique Capability Brown designed walled garden and its unique service buildings.
๐น WHAT TO EXPECT
Entrance includes a fascinating tour of the walled garden and visitors are encouraged to break their visit with a picnic or a visit to the Woodyard Cafรฉ. The garden is best enjoyed at a snailโs pace, entrance is for all day! Notice boards and displays are updated throughout the season allowing fascinating insight into the gardenโs rich history.
โฟ๏ธ ACCESSIBILITY
Every effort has been made to make the garden accessible to as many visitors as possible. With that in mind we have recently finished resurfacing the area around the sundial making it far easier for wheeled access. However, due to the age and rich history of the garden there are some areas that are not accessible by wheelchair. Please inform members of the Walled Garden Project at the entrance and every effort will be made to provide an alternative route, provide commentary on the area, or help with pushing if there are volunteers available. Disabled toilets are available within the conservatory.

Dogs on leads with well-behaved owners are most welcome at the Walled Garden.

Parking is in an immediately adjacent car park with clearing marked disabled parking bays.
Pre-booking is not required. Please note the Walled Garden is not at the hotel entrance.
