Special Kinda Madness are back at Bedford Esquires on Sat 6th December 2025 for their annual gig with their classic take on Madness and The Specials.

Here's the lowdown; SPECIAL KINDA MADNESS perform a truly authentic set from each band, combining the phenomenally energetic stage presence of The Specials with the wonderful iconic tunes of the Madness ‘Nutty Boys’. Playing a set from each band and producing a show that will have the audience up and dancing from the off, Special Kinda Madness will have everyone hankering after that exciting era of 2-Tone and ska.
On 21st July 1979 at the Electric Ballroom in London, the Specials played a gig with Madness, Dexy’s Midnight Runners and Selecter. That’s a gig that all 2-Tone rude boys and rude girls would die to see, and thought would never happen. The Specials and Madness on the same bill!
We know it will never happen now … but you can get the next best thing with Special Kinda Madness!

Since launching in 2017 Ultimate Coldplay have been widely recognised as being the world’s most accurate Coldplay tribute. They are frequently described as the ‘next best thing’ to one the UK’s most famous bands. Pre pandemic the band were frequent fliers, performing in many different countries around the world, including tours in Europe and Asia.
Performing at countless festivals across the country, Butlins shows, Theatre tours and 02 academies to name but a few the band has continued to go from strength to strength.
Ultimate Coldplay are the only Coldplay tribute featuring a true look-a-like Chris Martin, who plays piano and guitar like Chris, sings like Chris and even dances like him! One of the most influential and pioneering American bands of the past 30 years, since forming in 1989 Mercury Rev have released a succession of brilliantly innovative albums from the chaos of 1991 ‘Yerself is Steam’ to the shimmering psychedelia of 2024’s ‘Born Horses’. However, Mercury Rev are arguably best known for their 1998 masterpiece ‘Deserter Songs’. A record of beautifully orchestrated chamber pop which included the singles ‘Holes’, ‘Goddess on a Hiway’ and ‘Opus 40’, it was named album of the year in the NME and has subsequently gone on to be widely recognised as one of greatest releases of all time by the likes of Pitchfork and Uncut Magazine
Still featuring founding members Jonathan Donahue and Sean ‘Grasshopper’ Mackowiak, they’ve collaborated with The Chemical Brothers and headlined the main stages at festivals such as Green Man and Primavera Sound. As such we are so excited that they’ve agreed to appear in Bedford for the very first time for a gig that we never dreamt would happen.
