ABOUT
The Browning Version: a middle aged Classics teacher, who had been full of promise in his youth, finds himself with a mediocre career and a failing marriage.
His inability to express his true emotions causes friction in all areas of his life. However, the actions of a young pupil result in an unexpected change in perspective.
Harlequinade: Set in the now lost world of the actor-manager of the mid 20th Century, Harlequinade is a witty farce with elements of satire and pathos. Leading man Arthur’s world is turned upside down one evening as he is just about to go on stage to play Romeo, when his hitherto unknown daughter appears.
And the child she has with her?

Edward Dorking was ‘different’. Openly different.
‘Third Class’ revives the true story of a young English man, Edward Dorking, who was packed off on the Titanic, destined to be corrected by his American relatives.
“The owners erased any trace of culpability. Those clever little educated boys.”
A one-man theatre show based on the life of Titanic survivor Edward Dorking.
Edward was gay. Openly gay, and on Wednesday, April 10th, 1912, he set sail for NYC on a ticket bought for him by his parents in the hope his American family could put him 'right'
THIRD CLASS charts Edward's journey from boarding the Titanic to swimming for 30 minutes towards an already full collapsible lifeboat and how he, upon arriving in New York, would tour the Vaudeville circuit, recreating the stories for a fact-hungry public.
But Edward didn't want fame; he wanted revenge. When everyone was talking about the deaths of millionaires and society figures, few were discussing the people who took the lion's share of the losses that night: the third class.
Edward was coming for the upper classes.
Using music, movement, projection, and historical facts, Third Class tells the story of an unknown hero from a well-known story.

one actor investigates the crime, whilst the other plays all the suspects! And they both play the piano throughout! When the body of an acclaimed novelist is discovered at his birthday party, all the guests fall under suspicion.

🎵 With non-stop live music from a shared piano, and plenty of murder and mayhem thrown in, Murder for Two is impossible to resist.

Edward Elgar’s technically difficult as well as musically appealing Violin Concerto, in B minor, Opus 61 will be performed by the multi award-winning violinist, Michael Foyle.
The second half of the programme will be devoted to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Opus 64, in which, although not explicitly nationalistic, a distinctively Russian flavour pervades many of the themes.

The Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra will present just two works in their forthcoming concert, but they are formidable compositions by giants of 19th and 20th century classical music.
Edward Elgar’s technically difficult as well as musically appealing Violin Concerto, in B minor, Opus 61 will be performed by the multi award-winning violinist, Michael Foyle.
The second half of the programme will be devoted to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Opus 64, in which, although not explicitly nationalistic, a distinctively Russian flavour pervades many of the themes.

🎄A Christmas Carol Being a Ghost Story of Christmas The Old Town Hall’s resident company, the award-winning Dyad Productions, (Lady Susan, A Room of One’s Own, I, Elizabeth, Austen’s Women, Female Gothic) who have toured their sell-out festive show Christmas Gothic since 2015, now bring their magic to Dickens’ classic and perennially relevant ghost story.
📖 THE STORY
It’s Christmas Eve, and the miserly misanthrope, Ebenezer Scrooge, is about to have a ghostly night he’ll never forget. Dickens' festive, immortal tale of redemption and compassion is brought to life in Dyad’s inimitable solo style.
Draw near for an evening of mistletoe and merriment in the company of Marley, Fezziwig, and Cratchit et al to discover the true meaning of Christmas: tenderness for the past, courage for the present, and hope for the future.
Ebenezer lives in us all, and this glorious tale reminds us how not to give in to the Scrooge within.
Taking inspiration from Dickens' original performances of his own work and utilising the brilliant narrator of the novel to bring the story to life, the piece is performed Andrew Margerison (Frantic Assembly’s Fatherland, Macbeth), and directed by Rebecca Vaughan. Created in collaboration with The Old Town Hall.

Start your journey with our family-friendly pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, in our festive Visitor Centre. Enjoy your performance and then make your way to the Booking Hall to board the steam train.

You will be shown to your compartment where you will be visited by Father Christmas, who makes his way along the train to present a special golden ticket to all the children.

Start your journey with our family-friendly pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, in our festive Visitor Centre. Enjoy your performance and then make your way to the Booking Hall to board the steam train.

You will be shown to your compartment where you will be visited by Father Christmas, who makes his way along the train to present a special golden ticket to all the children.
